"Last Signification Bits" Method for Watermarking of Medical Image
2011
International audience; In this paper, we present a new approach for watermarking of medical image that we are trying to adapt to telemedicine. This approach is intended to insert a set of data in a medical image. These data should be imperceptible and robust to various attacks. It's containing the signature of the original image, the data specific to the patient and his diagnostic. The purpose of the watermarking method is to check the integrity and preservation of the confidentiality of patient data in a network sharing. This approach is based on the use the LSB (least significant bits) of the image and tools borrowed from cryptography.
Effect of oil lamination between plasticized starch layers on film properties
2016
International audience; To reduce the hygroscopic character of biodegradable starch-based films, rapeseed oil was incorporated by lamination (starch-oil-starch 3-layers technique). The lipid lamination followed by starch solution casting step induced an emulsion type structure of dried films. Composite films are more opalescent and glossier than fatty free starch films. For all the films, structure is heterogeneous in the cross-section only. Adding fat induced a twice decrease of the tensile strength. Thermal gravimetry analysis did not show differences between films with and without oil. Lipid reduced the moisture absorption particularly at higher RH as well as the surface swelling index, …
The Formalisation of Water Use and Conditional Ownership in Colca Valley, Peru
2019
This article discusses the production and negotiation of water ownership among peasant farmers in the Majes-Colca watershed in southern Peru, where the public water administration initiated a process of formalising user rights for potable water in 2011. While a large-scale irrigation project channels water from the headwaters to export-oriented agriculture in the desert, the supply of water is getting scarcer because of climate change. The Peruvian water resources law from 2009 acknowledges water as public property, yet emphasises its economic value and encourages private investment. The farmers in the highlands see water not only as a resource but also as a lifegiving force provided by the…
Assessment of Usability of Thermal Bicarbonate Mineral Water from the “Odra-5/I” Intake in Grabin Opole Silesia (SWPoland) for Therapeutic and Prophy…

Szczawy termalne należą do poszukiwanych surowców balneologicznych. Ten rodzaj wód jest cennym tworzywem wykorzystywanym w uzdrowiskach w szeroko rozumianej strategii zdrowotnej - profilaktyce i rekreacji. Odkrycie w 1983 r. szczawy termalnej w Grabinie koło Opola nastąpiło przypadkiem przy okazji wykonania odwiertu do rozpoznania budowy geologicznej krystalicznego podłoża osadów mezozoicznych i kenozoicznych. Występujące w Grabinie szczawy termalne są na obszarze bloku przedsudeckiego zjawiskiem unikalnym. Skład chemiczny, a zwłaszcza duża sumaryczna zawartość soli mineralnych wód z Grabina, wskazuje na niespotykany w skali kraju typ wody mineralnej. Zawartość składników stałych jest w nie…
Hydrogeochemical multi-component approach to assess fluids upwelling and mixing in shallow carbonate-evaporitic aquifers (Contursi area, southern Ape…
2023
With the aim of deepening our understanding of deep-seated fluids upwelling and mixing in large regional aquifers, we performed a hydrogeochemical study of twenty-two springs in the Contursi area (upper Sele river valley, southern Apennines) by means of the measurements of chemical-physical parameters, major ions, trace elements, and stable and radioactive isotopes. Besides, we realized two updated geo-structural cross-sections in order to reconstruct the groundwater flowpath in the study area. The hydrogeochemical composition, as well as the water temperature allow to identify-three main groups of groundwater: Cold and Low salinity Groundwater (CLGW), Intermediate Salinity Groundwater (ISG…
Environmental Effects on Mechanical, Thermophysical and Electrical Properties of Epoxy Resin Filled with Carbon Nanofillers
2019
The aim of this work was to establish the effect of environmental factors (moisture and temperature) on some mechanical, electrical and thermal properties of epoxy-based composites filled with carbon nanofillers: nanotubes (CNT), nanofibers (CNF) and hybrid nanofiller (nanotubes/nanofibers in the ratio 1:1) and to reveal the most environmentally stable NC. First, the nanocomposites (NC) containing different nanofiller contents were prepared to evaluate electrical percolation threshold and to choose NC at certain electrical conductivity for further characterization of the physical properties in initial state and during/after environmental ageing. The environmental ageing consisted of water a…

Unlocking mixed oxides with unprecedented stoichiometries from heterometallic metalorganic frameworks for the catalytic hydrogenation of CO 2
2021
[EN] Their complex surface chemistry and high oxygen lattice mobilities place mixed-metal oxides among the most important families of materials. Modulation of stoichiometry in mixed-metal oxides has been shown to be a very powerful tool for tuning optical and catalytic properties. However, accessing different stoichiometries is not always synthetically possible. Here, we show that the thermal decomposition of the recently reported metal-organic framework MUV-101(Fe, Ti) results in the formation of carbon-supported titanomaghemite nanoparticles with an unprecedented Fe/Ti ratio close to 2, not achievable by soft-chemistry routes. The resulting titanomaghemite phase displays outstanding catal…
Dry cherry tomato: innovation from studies on isotherms
2014
The drying of vegetables is a very ancient practice for food preservation still in use nowadays. Tomatoes cut into two parts, added with salt and dried are an important element of the food tradition in south of Italy. The tomato’s drying in Sicily is still carried out with a sun-drying process, with an empiric method. The final product obtained has a high quality which it is not homogeneous. In addition to dried products, the market offer even semidry products, to limit the loss of the nutritional characteristics of the dried product. The semidry product is a special category of dehydrated products that have a residual moisture content about 30%; for this reason, nutritional product charact…
