Linked data vocabularies for BIM

2019

Given the high interest in the field of BIM (Building Information Modeling) for Linked Data approaches over the last years, the article at hand presents an evaluation of the main Linked Data vocabularies available for the considered domain. First, Semantic Web layer architecture is presented, along with the 4 main principles of Linked Data. Second, each vocabulary is evaluated according to these 4 principles, while 2 additional ones are added in order to assess the licence associated with the vocabulary (open or not, specified or missing). An overall comparison among the considered vocabularies is also provided, thus helping in choosing which vocabulary to use in future Linked Data applicat…

OntoVersionGraph : a change management methodology dedicated to formal ontologies and their user views in a collaborative context

2014

The world changes over time, impacting the knowledge of every subdomain it contains. Therefore systems describing the knowledge of a certain domain should be able to consider changes occurred to keep its knowledge representation up-to-date. Formal ontologies are one of them: they explicitly and formally represent the knowledge of a domain in all its forms and modes of existence. Collaboratively developed, a formal ontology allows the domain users to understand each other by sharing the same terminology despite the different assumptions they have on the domain conceptualization. However, due to its completeness, the complexity of its conceptualization can sometimes make the domain knowledge …

Context-aware semantic Web service discovery protocol

2009

The Web of today represents a broad space where users research, discover and share information. In this context, the process of Web service discovery plays a significant role. Indeed, such process allows linking the information published by service providers and the requests of users, looking for information. Generally, such process involves text or keyword-based techniques. Still, this kind of discovery fails in retrieving only relevant information. Our approach is to design a more " intelligent " system that allows using a knowledge base during the service discovery process, as it is done in the Semantic Web vision. This thesis presents a framework for semantic Web service discovery using…

A reference architecture for archival systems with application to product models

2013

Nowadays, a major part of the information is in digital form. Digital preservation is essential to allowpeople to access information over time. From a computer science perspective, two major objectiveshave to be met to enable digital preservation: developing archival systems to manage the preserveddigital information, and select information representations that will facilitate the preservation. For complexinformation such as product models, these two objective are particularly hard to meet. Archivalsystems have to operate in a complex environment, interact with many different systems, and supportmay different business functions. Product model representations do not use all the possibilities…

Système sémantique pour la customisation dynamique des modèles d'information de la PLM

2013

We live in the information age. Data has become an essential asset for most everyday situations and business interactions. The need to share data, to generate information, and create new knowledge from that data is common to all fields of research and all economic activity. Managing data is a critical, and sometimes costly, process. When not properly defined, data might become incomplete, inconsistent or, even worse, unusable. Requirements for data evolve and we must define new data or update existing data over the entire data lifecycle. Evolving data requirements is an important issue and a technological challenge as it is not possible to define, in advance, information structures that mee…

ScaleSem : model checking and semantic web

2012

The increasing development of networks and especially the Internet has greatly expanded the gap between heterogeneous information systems. In a review of studies of interoperability of heterogeneous information systems, we find that all the work in this area tends to be in solving the problems of semantic heterogeneity. The W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) standards proposed to represent the semantic ontology. Ontology is becoming an indispensable support for interoperability of information systems, and in particular the semantics. The structure of the ontology is a combination of concepts, properties and relations. This combination is also called a semantic graph. Several languages have bee…

Vers une plateforme sémantique pour l'enseignement des sciences et de la culture numérique

2016

The technologies of Semantic Web for education have several advantages: accessibility and sustainability of resources, increased clarification and organization. Here we present our project of a semantic platform, the interest of those technologies, and a human / machine communication model that helps learner, teacher and scientist to think better, reflexively, the activities of each of them. The experiments about digital culture pave the way for a quality digital training.
