2006

Purpose of review This review introduces state-of-the-art Web-based education and shows how the e-learning model can be applied to an anaesthesia department using Open Source solutions, as well as lifelong learning programs, which is happening in several European research projects. Recent findings The definition of the term e-learning is still a work in progress due to the fact that technologies are evolving every day and it is difficult to improve teaching methodologies or to adapt traditional methods to a new or already existing educational model. Scripting as a pedagogical method to guide collaborative writing : university students' reflections

2020

A collaboration script is a set of instructions used to improve collaborative learning among students in technology-enhanced environments. Previously, university students’ perspective has been under-represented in the study on collaboration scripts. In this article, we focus on understanding students’ experiences in a scripted collaborative writing task, especially from the perspective of following the script. The study was conducted among undergraduate students (N = 91) taking a master-level educational science course at one university each in Finland and Belgium. Divided into 25 groups, each with three to five members, the students worked on collaborative writing tasks. During their share…

COVID-19 and Changes in Social Habits. Restaurant Terraces, a Booming Space in Cities. The Case of Madrid

2021

The COVID-19 pandemic and the fear experienced by some of the population, along with the lack of mobility due to the restrictions imposed, has modified the social behaviour of Spaniards. This has had a significant effect on the hospitality sector, viewed as being an economic and social driver in Spain. From the analysis of data collected in two of our own non-probabilistic surveys (N ~ 8400 and N ~ 2000), we show how, during the first six months of the pandemic, Spaniards notably reduced their consumption in bars and restaurants, also preferring outdoor spaces to spaces inside. The restaurant sector has needed to adapt to this situation and, with the support of the authorities (regional and…

E-learning in corporate training using interactive courses

2017

Master's thesis Multimedia and Educational Technology MM500 - University of Agder 2017 Health, safety, and environment (HSE) is an important term in industrial- and corporate context. A company focusing on their employees sharing the same values and attitudes regarding HSE can experience a working environment where employees feels safe, and perform their work without unnecessary risk-taking. There are often seen examples where HSE training relies on traditional classroom teaching, and keeps the focus on “do’s and “don’ts”, but the key to get employees to share a common goal on HSE, is to provide a deeper meaning for each employee on what this term actually mean. The purpose of this research…
