Andreaea rothii has been recorded for the first time in Croatia. It is a boreo-temperate suboceanic species (Hill et al., 2007) relatively rare in SE Europe, since it is known only from Romania (Ellis et al., 2014d), Slovenia and Serbia (Sabovljevic´ et al., 2008 ; Hodgetts, 2015). The species was found in the Papuk Mountains, situated in the mainly lowland area of NE Croatia. In this region Papuk is the largest and highest mountain range, with peaks between 800 and 900 m a.s.l. They are characterized by high geological diversity dominated by metamorphic rocks, such as different types of schists, as well as granites. The climate is temperate, moderately warm without an explicit dry period. …

Eurytides iphitas Hubner, [1821] is a rare swallowtail species endemic to southeast Brazil. Some authors believe that the species is extinct as the last live specimens were seen in 1937. During examination of the Friedrich Wilhelm Niepelt collection in the Museum of Natural History, University of Wroclaw, two specimens of this species were found. One of them has an enigmatic label “Peru Weberbauer S. G.”, which we can certainly attribute to the naturalist Otto Weberbauer, or his son August Weberbauer, the most famous pioneer of Peruvian botany.

On Pareto optima, the Fermat-Weber problem, and polyhedral gauges

This paper deals with multiobjective programming in which the objective functions are nonsymmetric distances (derived from different gauges) to the points of a fixed finite subset of ℝn. It emphasizes the case in which the gauges are polyhedral. In this framework the following result is known: if the gauges are polyhedral, then each Pareto optimum is the solution to a Fermat—Weber problem with strictly positive coefficients. We give a new proof of this result, and we show that it is useful in finding the whole set of efficient points of a location problem with polyhedral gauges. Also, we characterize polyhedral gauges in terms of a property of their subdifferential.

Oil-in-Water fL Droplets by Interfacial Spontaneous Fragmentation and Their Electrical Characterization

Inkjet printing is here employed for the first time as a method to produce femtoliter-scale oil droplets dispersed in water. In particular, picoliter-scale fluorinated oil (FC40) droplets are printed in the presence of perfluoro-1-octanol surfactant at a velocity higher than 5 m/s. Femtoliter-scale oil droplets in water are spontaneously formed through a fragmentation process at the water/air interface using minute amounts of nonionic surfactant (down to 0.003% v/v of Tween 80). This fragmentation occurs by a Plateau-Rayleigh mechanism at a moderately high Weber number (10(1)). Le texte qu’on va lire se propose d’analyser la question de la professionnalisation du politique à partir d’une approche rhétorique ; je reviendrai pour ce faire sur trois idéaltypes historiquement avérés : le fonctionnaire de parti, le président et le parlementaire – trois figures attestées dans l’œuvre de Max Weber. Si chacune de ces figures renvoie à l’interprétation wébérienne de la tendance dominante de l’époque, elles ressortissent toutes trois à des genres rhétoriques dissemblables. Ces trois types de politicien renvoient en outre à différents aspects de l’histoire de la démocratisation et de la parlementarisation du politique. peerReviewed
