Benefits of physical exercise in postmenopausal women
2016
Physical inactivity not only places women's health at risk during menopause, but also increases menopausal problems. Abundant evidence links habitual physical exercise (PE) to a better status on numerous health indicators and better quality of life and to the prevention and treatment of the ailments that typically occur from mid-life onwards. We can infer that PE is something more than a lifestyle: it constitutes a form of therapy in itself. A panel of experts from various Spanish scientific societies related to PE and menopause (Spanish Menopause Society, Spanish Cardiology Society, Spanish Federation of Sports Medicine) met to reach a consensus on these issues and to decide the optimal ti…

Crimini contro le donne. Storie di violenza nel Mezzogiorno medievale
2021
Preliminary reference intervals of Glycated Albumin in healthy Caucasian pregnant women
2021
Abstract Background and aims Glycated albumin (GA) could represent a useful biomarker in pregnant women for diagnosing and monitoring gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). The establishment of reference intervals (RI) is mandatory before assessing its clinical usefulness. The RIs of GA in healthy pregnant women are not well defined. The aim of the current study was to establish the RI in a cohort consisting of Caucasian pregnant women without overt diabetes mellitus or gestational diabetes mellitus. Methods The study included 183 healthy pregnant women. GA was measured on plasma by an enzymatic method (quantILab Glycated Albumin, IL Werfen, Germany). The RI was calculated by the non-parametr…

Social enterprises are hybrid organizations that tackle societal challenges by using conventional business models. Being hybrid organizations means that social enterprises pursue dual objectives: social (developmental) and financial. By taking performance, subsidization and internationalization perspectives, this thesis contributes to understanding the hybridity of social enterprises and how this hybridity drives their general operations and key decisions such as foreign market selection and targeting strategy.
