ABSTRACT: The city of Seville professed a great worship of Saint James the Moor-slayer between the 16thand 18thcenturies. This study analyses the reasons why such a cult took root in Seville, converting the city into an authentic Jacobean capital. Likewise, it delves into an analysis of the artistic works that emerged there as a consequence of the worship of Saint James, with special attention devoted to the different motivations of it promoters for undertaking those works of art.

This paper presents the study of the prestigious terracotta votive figurines from the Iberian Iron Age sanctuary of La Serreta (Alicante province, Spain) composed of 174 items. Portable X-ray fluorescence (PXRF) was used to identify elemental markers that permit us to observe the differences between local and non-local terracotta figurines and furthermore to evaluate the geographical influence of the La Serreta sanctuary using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The Partial Least Squares Discriminant Analysis (PLSDA) statistical method was also used to classify the figurines of uncertain geographical origin. Le village actuel de Fontaines, situé à environ 8 km au N.-O. de Chalon-sur-Saône, se développe sur 1,5 km de long selon un unique axe E-O, depuis la montagne Saint-Hilaire à l’ouest, occupée au Néolithique puis durant l’Antiquité tardive et le haut Moyen Âge, jusqu’à l’église paroissiale Saint-Just, à l’est. Malgré une emprise limitée et contrainte par de nombreux réseaux existants, l’opération a permis de documenter l’environnement immédiat de l’église, occupé depuis l’Antiquité jusqu’à nos jours.

The article address the problem of limiting the rights of Protestants and other non-Catholic Christian denominations during the reigns of two kings from the Wettin dynasty - King Augustus II (1697-1733). The process started as early as the second half of the 17th century, but it was fully accomplished in the years 1717-1736. In the article the author discussed the resolutions of the sejms and other legal acts introduced at that time, the aim of which was to eliminate dissenters from public life. The Polish monarchs were inert towards the process. It was the rulers of non - Catholic European states (Prussia, Russia and Great Britain) that helped Protestants an Orthodox Christans in Poland
