Pathways towards a sustainable future envisioned by early-career conservation researchers

Scientists have warned decision-makers about the severe consequences of the global environmental crisis since the 1970s. Yet ecological degradation continues and little has been done to address climate change. We investigated early-career conservation researchers' (ECR) perspectives on, and prioritization of, actions furthering sustainability. We conducted a survey (n = 67) and an interactive workshop (n = 35) for ECR attendees of the 5th European Congress of Conservation Biology (2018). Opettajuuden muutos 1950-luvulta 2010-luvulle

Pro gradu -tutkielmani tavoitteena on tutkia, miten opettajuus on muuttunut 1950-luvulta 2010-luvulle ja millaisia ominaisuuksia opettajuudelle annetaan vuosikymmenien saatossa. Tutkimukseni on laadullinen tutkimus, jossa tutkimusmetodina käytän narratiivisuutta. Tutkimukseni aineisto koostuu seitsemästä kirjoitelmasta, jotka on kerätty eri vuosikymmeninä 1950-2010 valmistuneilta luokanopettajilta. Analysoin aineiston narratiivisen kategorisen sisällönanalyysin avulla. Tutkimustulosteni perusteella opettajat määrittelevät opettajuuden samoista osa-alueista koostuvana. Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää, miten pitkän uran tehnyt opettaja on kokenut viime vuosikymmenten yhteiskunnalliset ja arvolliset muutokset kasvatuksen kentällä. Fenomenologis-hermeneuttinen tapaustutkimus perustuu aiemmalle tutkimustiedolle, tutkijan omille kokemuksille sekä ajankohtaiselle keskustelulle. Aineisto itsessään on kerätty teemahaastattelun avulla. Tutkimuskysymykset on esitetty ensimmäisessä luvussa, ja niihin etsitään vastauksia eri tieteenaloilta valittujen tutkimusten, haastatteluaineiston sekä asiantuntijoiden kirjoittamiin artikkeleiden avulla. Hannu Piiroinen tarkasteli väitöskirjatyössään kahdessa suomalaisessa sosiaalialan ammattilehdessä (Sosiaaliturva ja Sosiaalityöntekijä) vuosina 1990 – 1997 julkaistujen sosiaalityöntekijöiden kirjoitusten kautta rakentuvaa kuvaa suomalaisesta sosiaalityöstä. In nineteenth‑century Finland, artisans constituted an important part of society, and the majority of them lived in the countryside. Rural artisans were jacks-of-all-trades who met the needs of country folk. This chapter studies the rural artisans’ children and explores how craft knowledge was often transferred to the next generation. In early modern society, it was only natural that the son followed his father’s trade. This was a matter of societal stability and maintaining the social order.
