Optimization of krypton yields for rp-process studies at ISOLDE(CERN)

2004

The production of neutron-deficient krypton isotopes having astrophysical importance has been studied at the ISOLDE PBS facility at CERN. To investigate several effects on the yield a Monte Carlo code has been extensively applied.

Non-adiabatic treatment of fission mass distribution

1975

The influence of dynamical corrections to fission mass yields has been studied within the frame work of the macroscopic-microscopic approach and solving the time-dependent Schrodinger equation for the asymmetry degree of freedom, treating the fragment separation classically. The results indicate that the actual motion lies in between the adiabatic and sudden approximations. In particular the dynamic effects tend to increase considerably the probability for symmetric fission as compared to the static case.

Measurement of theD*(2010)+natural linewidth and theD*(2010)+−D0mass difference

2013

We measure the mass difference, Δm_0, between the D^*(2010)^+ and the D^0 and the natural linewidth, Γ, of the transition D^*(2010)^+ → D^0π^+. The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies at and near the Υ(4S) resonance, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of approximately 477  fb^(-1). The D^0 is reconstructed in the decay modes D^0 → K^-π^+ and D^0 → K^-π^+π^-π^+. For the decay mode D^0 → K^-π^+ we obtain Γ=(83.4±1.7±1.5)  keV and Δm_0=(145425.6±0.6±1.8)  keV, where the quoted errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. For the D^0 → K^-π^+π^-π^+ mode we obtain Γ=(83.2±1.5±2.6)  keV and Δm_0 = (145426.6±0.5±2.0)  keV. The combined measurements…

Meson retardation in deuteron electrodisintegration

2004

The effect of meson retardation in $NN$-interaction and exchange currents on deuteron electrodisintegration is studied in a coupled channel approach including $NN$-, $N \Delta$- and $\pi d$-channels. It is shown that the influence of retardation depends on the energy regime: Whereas below $\pi$-threshold calculations with static and retarded operators yield almost identical results, they differ significantly in the $\Delta$-region. Especially, the longitudinal and the longitudinal-transverse interference structure functions are strongly affected.

Production ofΛ0,Λ¯0,Ξ±, andΩ±hyperons inpp¯collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2012

We report a set of measurements of inclusive invariant ${p}_{T}$ differential cross sections of ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}^{0}$, ${\overline{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}^{0}$, ${\ensuremath{\Xi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$, and ${\ensuremath{\Omega}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ hyperons reconstructed in the central region with pseudorapidity $|\ensuremath{\eta}|l1$ and ${p}_{T}$ up to $10\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/c$. Events are collected with a minimum-bias trigger in $p\overline{p}$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV using the CDF II detector at the Tevatron Collider. As ${p}_{T}$ increases, the slopes of the differential cross sections of the three particles are similar,…

Azimuthal anisotropy ofD-meson production in Pb-Pb collisions atsNN=2.76TeV

2014

The production of the prompt charmed mesons D0, D+, and D*+ relative to the reaction plane was measured in Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon-nucleon collision of √sNN=2.76TeV with the ALICE detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. D mesons were reconstructed via their hadronic decays at central rapidity in the transverse-momentum (p_T) interval 2–16 GeV/c. The azimuthal anisotropy is quantified in terms of the second coefficient v2 in a Fourier expansion of the D-meson azimuthal distribution and in terms of the nuclear modification factor R_AA, measured in the direction of the reaction plane and orthogonal to it. The v2 coefficient was measured with three different …

Measurement of the Bs0 lifetime and production rate with Ds−ℓ+ combinations in Z decays

1995

Abstract The lifetime of the Bs0 meson is measured in approximately 3 million hadronic Z decays accumulated using the ALEPH detector at LEP from 1991 to 1994. Seven different Ds− decay modes were reconstructed and combined with an opposite sign lepton as evidence of semileptonic Bs0 decays. Two hundred and eight Ds−l+ candidates satisfy selection criteria designed to ensure precise proper time reconstruction and yield a measured Bs0 lifetime of τ(Bs0) = 1.59−0.15+0.17 (stat) ±0.03 (syst) ps. Using a larger, less constrained sample of events, the product branching ratio is measured to be Br ( b → B s 0 ) · Br(B s 0 → D s − l + νX) = 0.82 ± 0.09 (stat) −0.14+0.13 (syst) %.

φ, ϱ, and ω production in pU, OU and SU reactions at 200 GeV per nucleon

1991

Abstract Low mass muon pair production at high P T and low X F studied in pU, OU and SU 200 GeV per nucleon react ions. When energy density or projectile mass are increased, φ production is enhanced as compared with the yield of muon pairs in the mass continuum (1.7 M μμ c 2 ), whereas the production of ω and ϱ, experimentally unresolved, remains approximately constant. This φ enhancement is in agreement with predictions based on quark-gluon plasma formation and, together with the previously reported J/Ψ suppression, puts severe constraints on a purely hadronic description of nucleus-nucleus collisions.

Study of J/$\psi$ production in p-U, O-U and S-U interactions at 200 GeV per nucleon

1991

Abstract In a search for quark-gluon plasma formation, the production of J/ψ and muon pairs in the mass continuum region is studied in oxygen-uranium and sulphur-uranium interactions. The yield of J/ψ relative to the continuum is measured to be a decreasing function of the neutral transverse energy produced in the collision, i.e. of the energy density. A comparison is made with proton-uranium reactions.

Pattern recognition and PID for COMPASS RICH-1

2008

A package for pattern recognition and PID by COMPASS RICH-1 has been developed and used for the analysis of COMPASS data collected in the years 2002 to 2004, and 2006-2007 with the upgraded RICH-1 photon detectors. It has allowed the full characterization of the detector in the starting version and in the upgraded one, as well as the PID for physics results. We report about the package structure and algorithms, and the detector characterization and PID results.
