Tämän pro gradu -tutkielman tavoitteena oli tutkia korkeakouluissa opiskelevien yleisurheilijoiden opinto-ohjausta sekä urheilu- ja koulutusurien yhdistämistä. Tutkimuksen kannalta kiinnostavaa oli erityisesti se, miten ohjaus tukee urheilijan kaksoisuraa. Tutkimuksen taustaosiossa perehdyttiin opinto-ohjaukseen urheilijan polulla, urheilijan tukiympäristöihin sekä aiempaan kaksoisuratutkimukseen. Tutkimuskysymyksiä oli kaksi, joista ensimmäinen selvitti, millaista ohjausta urheilijat ovat saaneet opintojen ja urheilun yhdistämiseen korkea-asteella. This essay is a narration about my attempt to follow a small part of Emil and Dana Zátopek’s journey in the Finland of the 1980s. The essay also documents my visit to Mrs. Dana Zátopková in February 2012. When travelling in the history, I meet the Professor of Sports Science Vojmír Srdečný who is also a Sachsenhausen survivor, like many other academic people of his generation. I look for the Zátopeks in the Finnish National Archive in Helsinki by going through the calendars and notebooks of Minister Johannes Virolainen. However, Virolainen has not written any notes about his meeting with the Czech couple. From Prague and Helsinki I return to my home town, Turku, where Emil Zátopek made one …
Cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic shoulder and elbow score in Finnish-speaking overhead athletes

Background The Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic Shoulder and Elbow score (KJOC) is developed to evaluate the shoulder and elbow function in overhead athletes. To date, the score has not been adapted into Finnish language. The aim of this study was to perform a cross-cultural adaptation of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic Shoulder and Elbow score (KJOC) into Finnish language and evaluate its validity, reliability, and responsiveness in overhead athletes. Methods Forward–backward translation method was followed in the cross-cultural adaptation process.
