University Teachers’ Conceptions of Their Role as Developers of Technology-Rich Learning Environments

This phenomenographic study examines how a diverse group of university teachers conceptualised their role as developers of technology-rich learning environments at one university in Finland. The research findings illustrate a variety of conceptions. Five qualitatively different ways of understanding teachers’ roles regarding the development of technology-rich learning environments were found: 1) innovator, 2) early adopter, 3) adaptive, 4) sceptic and 5) late adopter. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan Jyväskylän yliopistossa vuosina 2010 ja 2011 suoritettua tutkimuksen kokonaisarviointia. Tarkoituksena on selvittää, onko kokonaisarviointi ollut tasa-arvoinen, kun sitä tarkastellaan erilaisten tiedekulttuurien näkökulmasta. Tasa-arvoisuus on otettu kokonaisarvioinnissa yhdeksi johtavaksi periaatteeksi. Tutkimuksen aineistona on tutkimuksen kokonaisarvioinnin arviointiraportti, josta analyysin kohteeksi on valittu raportin yleinen ohjeistus sekä yhteiskuntatieteiden ja filosofian laitoksen arvioinnin osuus. A university has many stakeholders with varying interests and commitments. Several studies have examined modes and methods of HEIs communication with stakeholders. To the best of our knowledge, it is not evident in the literature how the engagement between universities and their stakeholders proceeds on the social media platforms particularly from a developing country perspective.
