Blends of Semiflexible Polymers: Interplay of Nematic Order and Phase Separation

Mixtures of semiflexible polymers with a mismatch in either their persistence lengths or their contour lengths are studied by Density Functional Theory and Molecular Dynamics simulation. Considering lyotropic solutions under good solvent conditions, the mole fraction and pressure is systematically varied for several cases of bending stiffness κ (the normalized persistence length) and chain length N. For binary mixtures with different chain length (i.e., NA=16, NB=32 or 64) but the same stiffness, isotropic-nematic phase coexistence is studied. Celem pracy była ocena, jak napięcie mięśni dna miednicy (MDM) mierzonego za pomocą sEMG wpływa na ocenę obiektywną i subiektywną trzymania moczu oraz zaburzeń erekcji. W badaniach uczestniczyło 10 mężczyzn, będących po zabiegu prostatektomii. Nasilenie objawów nietrzymania moczu oceniano na podstawie kwestionariusza ICIQ-SF, aktywność seksualną kwestionariuszem IIEF-5. Nie wykazano istotnego statystycznie związku między napięciem MDM, ocenianego za pomocą sEMG, a obiektywnymi wyznacznikami nietrzymania moczu, jednakże zaobserwowano tendencję, że niższe napięcie MDM występuje częściej u chorych ze wszystkimi dolegliwościami w ocenie subiektywnej.
Nawracające częstoskurcze komorowe w przebiegu zawału NSTEMI utrzymujące się pomimo rewaskularyzacji i zastosowanej farmakoterapii

Przedstawiamy pacjenta z nawracającymi niestabilnymi hemodynamicznie częstoskurczami komorowymi w okresie zawału mięśnia sercowego bez uniesienia odcinka ST powikłanego niewydolnością krążenia. Komorowe zaburzenia rytmu utrzymywały się pomimo wdrożonej farmakoterapii przeciwniewydolnościowej, zastosowania amiodaronu i przeprowadzonej rewaskularyzacji. W związku z tym zastosowano niestandardową farmakoterapię oraz metody zabiegowe takie jak ablacja endowaskularna i implantacja kardiowertera-defibrylatora.
Nuorten lukemisvaikeudet ja lukemiseen yhteydessä olevat tekijät kielessämme

Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin suomenkielisten nuorten lukutaitoa ja sen taustalla olevia kognitiivisia tekijöitä. Artikkeli on ilmestynyt lehdessä Scientific Studies of Reading otsikolla ”The nature of and factors related to reading difficulties among adolescents in a transparent orthography”. Tutkimuksessa verrattiin sanojen, pseudosanojen (merkityksettömien sanojen) ja tekstin lukemisen nopeutta ja tarkkuutta sekä nopean sarjallisen nimeämisen ja fonologisen prosessoinnin yhteyttä lukemisvaikeuksisten ja tyypillisesti lukevien nuorten ryhmissä. Nuorten lukemisvaikeudet näkyivät ensisijaisesti hitaana lukemisena. Lukemistarkkuus oli ongelma aikapaineistetussa pseudosanojen lukemistehtävässä.…
Noiseless Quantum Measurement and Squeezing of Microwave Fields Utilizing Mechanical Vibrations

A process which strongly amplifies both quadrature amplitudes of an oscillatory signal necessarily adds noise. Alternatively, if the information in one quadrature is lost in phase-sensitive amplification, it is possible to completely reconstruct the other quadrature. Here we demonstrate such a nearly perfect phase-sensitive measurement using a cavity optomechanical scheme, characterized by an extremely small noise less than 0.2 quanta. We also observe microwave radiation strongly squeezed by 8 dB below vacuum. A source of bright squeezed microwaves opens up applications in manipulations of quantum systems, and noiseless amplification can be used even at modest cryogenic temperatures.
Experimental on-demand recovery of entanglement by local operations within non-Markovian dynamics

In many applications entanglement must be distributed through noisy communication channels that unavoidably degrade it. Entanglement cannot be generated by local operations and classical communication (LOCC), implying that once it has been distributed it is not possible to recreate it by LOCC. Recovery of entanglement by purely local control is however not forbidden in the presence of non-Markovian dynamics, and here we demonstrate in two all-optical experiments that such entanglement restoration can even be achieved on-demand. Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a soft tissue malignant tumor of mesenchymal cell origin, which usually shows variable differentiation of muscle cells. It is the most common solid sarcoma in children. The most usual site of occurrence are the head and neck regions. RMS presents a variety of histologic features, and so differential diagnosis with other small round cell tumors is needed. Etiological factors of chronic hepatitis in Italy: a 2014 national survey.

Background The last Italian prevalence survey on chronic hepatitis (CH) conducted in 2001 showed that the hepatitis C virus (HCV) was the main agent associated with CH. Aim The aim of this study was to evaluate epidemiological changes in CH occurring after 13 years. Patients and methods Enrollment of 1392 CH consecutive patients referred to 16 Italian liver units in 2014 scattered all over the country (four in the North, four in the Center, four in the South, and four in the Islands) was performed.
