The reaction between !,"-poly(aspartylhydrazide) (PAHy), a water soluble synthetic polymer and 3-(carboxypropyl)trimethyl-ammonium chloride (CPTACl) produced copolymers bearing permanent positive charges (PAHy–CPTA) with molecular weight of 10 kDa and PAHy–CPTA copolymers differing in positive charge amount (18–58%) were chosen for biological investigations. Ligand-Binding Cooperativity Effects in Polymer-Protein Conjugation.

We present an electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopic characterization of structural and dynamic effects that stem from post-translational modifications of bovine serum albumin (BSA), an established model system for polymer-protein conjugation. Beyond the typical drug delivery and biocompatibility aspect of such systems, we illustrate the causes that alter internal dynamics and therefore functionality in terms of ligand-binding to the BSA protein core. Effect of high methoxyl pectin on pea protein in aqueous solution and at oil/water interface

International audience; The effect of the addition of high methoxyl pectin on the stability of pea protein isolate emulsions was investigated. Except for low pectin concentrations at acidic pHs where bridging flocculation occurred the addition of pectin improved emulsion stability to pH changes and depletion flocculation induced by maltodextrin addition. Inulin-based polymer coated SPIONs as potential drug delivery systems for targeted cancer therapy

This paper deal with the synthesis and characterization of PEGylated squalene-grafted-inulin amphiphile capable of self-assembling and self-organizing into nanocarriers once placed in aqueous media. Near-Infrared Light Responsive Folate Targeted Gold Nanorods for Combined Photothermal-Chemotherapy of Osteosarcoma.

Folate-targeted gold nanorods (GNRs) are proposed as selective theranostic agents for osteosarcoma treatment. An amphiphilic polysaccharide based graft-copolymer (INU-LA-PEG-FA) and an amino derivative of the α,β-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)-d,l-aspartamide functionalized with folic acid (PHEA-EDA-FA), have been synthesized to act as coating agents for GNRs. The obtained polymer-coated GNRs were characterized in terms of size, shape, zeta potential, chemical composition, and aqueous stability. Designing biochar properties through the blending of biomass feedstock with metals: Impact on oxyanions adsorption behavior

Metal-blending of biomass prior to pyrolysis is investigated in this work as a tool to modify biochar physico-chemical properties and its behavior as adsorbent. Six different compounds were used for metal-blending: AlCl3, Cu(OH)2, FeSO4, KCl, MgCl2 and Mg(OH)2. Pyrolysis experiments were performed at 400 and 700 °C and the characterization of biochar properties included: elemental composition, thermal stability, surface area and pore size distribution, Zeta potential, redox potential, chemical structure (with nuclear magnetic resonance) and adsorption behavior of arsenate, phosphate and nitrate.
