This article examines the contribution of education in the construction of the culture of peace in 11 educational textbooks for primary students, which were edited in the Autonomous Community of Cataluña in 2009, given that the area is the most explicitly linked to peace. A documentary study was carried out by way of the comparative methodology, along with an analysis of the content through the use of a previously designed and validated instrument favored by independent evaluators. L'estimació en numeració i càlcul ha pres rellevància en les dues darreres dècades per la seva importància i necessitat social i, per aquest motiu, ha estat progressivament inclosa en els currículums de matemàtiques de l'educació obligatòria. Tanmateix, el treball de l'estimació a l'aula es veu reduït freqüentment a les tècniques d'arrodoniment i els alumnes no es mostren hàbils a l'hora de desenvolupar estratègies d'estimació o de decidir quan un càlcul estimat és adient per a una situació problemàtica.
