Spin crossover properties of the [Fe(PM-BiA)2(NCS)2] complex - phases I and II

2003

International audience; In the present review, we reexamine the photomagnetic properties of the [Fe(PM-BiA)2(NCS)2], cis-bis(thiocyanato)-bis[(N-2'-pyridylmethylene)-4-(aminobiphenyl)]iron(II), compound which exhibits, depending on the synthetic method, an exceptionally abrupt spin transition (phase I) with a very narrow hysteresis (T1/2O = 168 K and T1/2N = 173 K) or a gradual spin conversion (phase II) occurring at 190 K. In both cases, light irradiation in the tail of the 1MLCT-LS absorption band, at 830 nm, results in the population of the high-spin state according to the light-induced excited spin-state trapping (LIESST) effect. The capacity of a compound to retain the light-induced HS…

Critical temperature of the LIESST effect in iron(II) spin crossover compounds

1999

Abstract The light-induced crossover in a series of iron(II) compounds has been investigated by irradiating the sample at 10 K with a Kr + laser coupled to an optical fiber within a SQUID cavity. The temperature dependence of the molar fraction of the light-induced metastable HS state has been recorded for 22 compounds. The critical LIESST temperature, T c (LIESST), has been defined as the temperature for which the light-induced HS information was erased in the SQUID cavity. The dependence of T c (LIESST) as a function of the thermal spin crossover temperature, T 1/2 , has been discussed. The effect of cooperation has been analyzed and the influence of horizontal and vertical displacements …

Syntheses, characterisation, magnetism and photoluminescence of a homodinuclear Ln(III)-Schiff base family.

2009

A novel family of homodinuclear complexes of the general formula [Ln(2)L(2)(X)(2)] (where Ln = Nd(3+), Pr(3+), Sm(3+) and Tb(3+) for 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively and X, the coordinated NO(3)(-) or Cl(-) anion) has been synthesised from the corresponding lanthanide(III) salts with the pentadentate dianionic Schiff base ligand, H(2)L [N(1),N(3)-bis(salicylideneimino)diethylenetriamine], that exhibits a N(3)O(2) donor set. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies evidenced the isostructurality of this family of centrosymmetric neutral dinuclear entities where the Ln(III) metal centres are coupled together by two phenolato oxygen atoms belonging to two units of ligand (H(2)L). Interestingly, the…

Photo-switching spin pairs—synergy between LIESST effect and magnetic interaction in an iron(ii) binuclear spin-crossover compound

2001

The decrease of the magnetic response under irradiation at very low temperature was interpreted as a new evidence of synergy between magnetic interaction and spin transition in an iron(II) binuclear SC compound. Real Cabezos, Jose Antonio, Jose.A.Real@uv.es
