Experimental Method for Determining Forces at Bending of Perforated Plates
Abstract This paper describes the method of calculating the forces which appear at the bending of perforated plates with holes of different shapes and placed in different patterns, by means of a dynamometric table which uses resistive tensometric transducers (strain gauges). It also describes an instrument for the recording of data from the dynamometric table, a tool created with the aid of the “TestPoint” software which, beneath the data recording, ensures the filtering and statistic processing of data. The obtained results are displayed in comparative graphs for six types of perforated plates, as well as for an unperforated plate.
Experimental studies on uniaxial and echibiaxial tensile tests applied to plastic materials sheets
Abstract The main objective of this paper is to determine the behavior of few plastic materials using two different type of tests. We use classical uniaxial tensile test to determine the most important mechanical and elastic characteristics, such as: yield stress, Young modulus, tangent modulus, maximum stress and maximum strain and to plot engineering stress vs. engineering strain curve for these materials. The second test, that was used in this study, was echibiaxial tensile test on the spherical punch. This test was used to determine maximum breaking force and, of course maximum displacement of specimen on punch direction and others few important characteristics, such as: major and minor…
Theoretical and Experimental Studies on the Influence of Process Parameters on Strains and Forces of Single Point Incremental Forming
These paper aims to determine the influence of the most important geometrical parameters (vertical step and punch diameter) on the main strains, thickness reduction and the forces along two directions during the single point incremental forming process (SPIF). The paper comprises a comparative numericalexperimental study, for a simple geometry part obtained by incremental forming. In fact, in the first stage, the punch has a vertical motion with the value of one vertical step. In the second stage, the punch follows a linear trajectory along one side of the die. After each linear trajectory the punch has successive vertical motions, taking one vertical step at a time until the entire geometr…
Research on the internal pressure behavior of metal gas distribution pipelines with different types of tubing defects
The paper aims to approach an important subject related to natural gas distribution networks which, depending on the expansion of the localities, are composed of intercommunicating pipes, pressure reducing stations and branch connections fittings. The urban networks are the most complex ones and the rural areas networks are the simplest. However, irrespective of their installation, they must meet the safety operating requirements as much as possible. According to standards, all these components must be tight and pressure resistant. In this regard, we intend to approach a very important issue related to the behavior of the tubular steel material showing corrosion and/or material defects, and…
Static and Dynamic Comparative Study on the Cardanic Transmission
This paper aims to make a comparative study between the static and the dynamic analysis in the cardanic transmission. The cardanic transmission is done at full scale and is charged as it is in practice, by means of the Solidworks and Cosmos programs. We observe the differences and the tension areas which appear in the cardanic transmission elements and present the findings and the given solutions, according to the study.
Experimental Determining of Mechanical and Elastic Characteristics for the Material Used in the Manufacturing of Cardan Crosses
The paper presents in its first part the need for analysing the functioning of the cardan cross within the cardan transmission, both from the point of view of shape and from the point of view of the material. In the second part there are described the main elements for analysing the test samples, the employed testing machine, as well as the manner of processing the obtained information. The last part contains the conclusions resulted from this analysis..
Comparative Study for Springback Prediction on Single Point Incremental Forming Process
The present paper proposes a comparative study in order to determine the springback in single point incremental forming process. Using the Ls-Dyna software the process was simulated for one piece in frustum of pyramid shape. In the end of the explicit dynamic analysis, it was run, using the same software, an implicit analysis to determine the springback. For this comparison study we selected four different shell formulations. The results obtained in this simulation were compared with those obtained experimentally for the same part. The experimental research was conducted on a robot and, on the opposite side of the machined surface, an Aramis measuring optical system was placed to allow the …
Comparative Study of the Loads Acting on the Operating Cardanic Transmission in the Closed and Open Loop Configurations
On the basis of a comparative study, this paper aims to determine the maximum loads that can occur in operating conditions on the cardanic transmission assembly of motor vehicles in the open or closed loop configurations. The research is conducted under static conditions using finite elements and shows the components with their maximum values obtained in normal operating conditions.
Theoretical and Experimental Model for the Analysis of a Cardan Cross
The work presents the aproach of initial moddeling and calculus in order to prepare an finite element investigation of the cardan transmission joint. For this, it is necessary to develop a flexible informational system that would connect the constructive design of cardan transmissions to the technological design within a unitary structure. Due to the typodimensional diversity of cardan transmissions, the design and manufacturing of the various components for a certain application domain (medical aparature, dental and agricultural machines, lifting and transportation machines etc.) has been typified. In order to study the problems that occur in the practice of using cardan transmissions, the…
Optical study for springback prediction, thickness reduction and forces variations on single point incremental forming
Abstract The goal of the present work is to present an experimental study regarding the influence of the main technological influence factors such as the vertical step and the punch diameter on the single point incremental forming process (SPIF). In this paper we estimate the influence of these two factors on springback, thickness reduction and forces. Both parameters were varied on two levels: (d) punch diameter 6 and 10 mm and (s) vertical step 0,1 and 0,5 mm. The experiments were done on experimental layout composed by a robot, a clamping system that contains the die’s lower part and the optical system.
Model of a Constructive Fuctional Optimization of the Cardan Cross
This paper aims to establish an optimization model using the Ansys program, and taking into account the specific constraints depending on the functional role of the specific area. We present certain calculation parameters applied to the cardanic transmission of the Dacia, this cardanic transmission being considered an optimization model. The entire cardanic transmission was analyzed, resulting that the cardan crosses are parts which are strained the most, and that is why it will be here that the optimization will be focused, in terms of minimizing the Von Mises stress.
Studies and Research on the Stress – Strain Analyses of the Polyethylene Pipe-Fitting Assemblies Accidentally Subjected to an External Force
Abstract The paper aims at analyzing the behavior of the polyethylene pipe - fitting assembly in the case of accidental stress due to the accidentally occurring external forces (mechanized excavation in the assembly area). The study will identify the necessary computing relationships and the minimum value of the force to which the analyzed assembly breaks, as well as some solutions for avoiding these accidental stresses. A three-dimensional model of the assembly will be made by applying the external forces on three main directions, following the maximum stresses for the same value of the external force. Also, a welding of a polyethylene pipe-fitting assembly will be carried out and it will …
