The article is a comparative study of two contemporary Italian novels ("Scherzetto" by Domenico Starnone and "Dalle rovine" by Luciano Funetta) and it is meant to highlight the peculiar narrative logic of two horror stories, also investigating the relationship between obscenity, fear, tension and pornography.

The aim is to demonstrate that I ciechi" is essential to correctly understand Pavese's unfaithful and original approach to three fields: ethnology, psychoanalysis and literature.

Alcune figure della diserzione nell'opera di Pavese
Deserting Characters in Pavese’s Work ∙ Pavese’s experience of World War ii has been widely controversial. Anti-fascist without joining the Italian Resistance, Pavese reimagines his nonparticipation to the confict across several of his post-1945 works. The essay ofers a thematic reading on deserting fgures in some poems from La terra e la morte, in I due (included in Dialogues with Leucò), in the novel The House on the Hill. The reading brings out the torn and evolving development of the issue of deserting in Pavese’s oeuvre.

Paesaggio Scotellaro. Materiali per "Cantilena" (e per la prima Rosselli)
The article starts from the intellectual friendship between Rocco Scotellaro and Amelia Rosselli, then proceeds to focus on the early poems by Rosselli (specifically Cantilena. Poesie per Rocco Scotellaro). Rosselli's short poetic text, her Italian debut in 1953, displays the mourning for Scotellaro's early death and portrays a contradictory absence/presence of her friend into the landscape of Basilicata. In our contribution a theme-based analysis is offered. Through close reading, we investigate on Rosselli's sources (Campana, Jung), both identifying cross-references to Scotellaro's poems and proses and reading Cantilena in continuity with her poetic texts up to Diario ottuso.
