Dalitz plot analyses of J/ψ→π+π−π0 , J/ψ→K+K−π0 , and J/ψ→Ks0K±π∓ produced via e+e− annihilation with initial-state radiation

2017

We study the processes e^+e^− → γISR J/ψ, where J/ψ → π^+π^−π^0, J/ψ → K^+K^−π^0, and J/ψ → K^0_SK^±π^∓ using a data sample of 519 fb^(−1) recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e^+e^− collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the Υ(nS) (n=2,3,4) resonances. We measure the ratio of branching fractions R_1 = ^(B(J/ψ → K^+K^−π^0)) /_(B(J/ψ → π^+π^−π^0)) and R_2 = ^(B(J/ψ → K^0_SK^±π^∓))/_(B(J/ψ → π^+π^−π^0)). We perform Dalitz plot analyses of the three J/ψ decay modes and measure fractions for resonances contributing to the decays. We also analyze the J/ψ → π^+π^−π^0 decay using the Veneziano model. We observe structures compatible with the pres…

Search forb→utransitions inB±→[K∓π±π0]DK±decays

2007

We report results from an updated study of the suppressed decays ${B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}D{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{*}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ followed by $D\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, where ${D}^{(*)}$ indicates a ${D}^{(*)0}$ or a ${\overline{D}}^{(*)0}$ meson, and ${D}^{*}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}D{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ or ${D}^{*}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}D\ensuremath{\gamma}$. Antideuteron production inϒ(nS)decays and ine+e−→qq¯ats≈10.58  GeV

2014

We present measurements of the inclusive production of antideuterons in e^+e^− annihilation into hadrons at ≈10.58  GeV center-of-mass energy and in Υ(1S,2S,3S) decays. The results are obtained using data collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II electron-positron collider. Assuming a fireball spectral shape for the emitted antideuteron momentum, we find B(Υ(1S)→d[bar]X)=(2.81±0.49(stat)^(+0.20)_(−0.24)(syst))×10^(−5), B(Υ(2S)→d[bar]X)=(2.64±0.11(stat)^(+0.26)(−0.21)(syst))×10^(−5), B(Υ(3S)→d[bar]X)=(2.33±0.15(stat)^(+0.31)_(−0.28)(syst))×10^(−5), and σ(e^+e^− →d[bar]X)=(9.63±0.41(stat)^(+1.17)_(−1.01)(syst)  fb.

Measurement ofCPasymmetries and branching fractions in charmless two-bodyB-meson decays to pions and kaons

2013

We present improved measurements of CP-violation parameters in the decays B^0→π^+π^-, B^0→K^+π^-, and B^0→π^0π^0, and of the branching fractions for B^0→π^0π^0 and B^0→K^0π^0. Measurement of the neutralDmeson mixing parameters in a time-dependent amplitude analysis of theD0→π+π−π0decay

2016

We measure the $D^0 - {\bar{D}}^0$ mixing parameters using a time-dependent amplitude analysis of the decay $D^0\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$. The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies at and near the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of approximately 468.1 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$. The neutral $D$ meson candidates are selected from $D^{*}(2010)^+\to D^0 \pi_s^+$ decays where the flavor at the production is identified by the charge of the low momentum pion, $\pi_s^+$. The measured mixing parameters are $x = (1.5\pm1.2\pm0.6) \%$ and $y = (0.2\pm0.9\pm0.5) \%$, where the quoted uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Evidence for the decayB0→ωωand search forB0→ωϕ

2014

We describe searches for B meson decays to the charmless vector-vector final states ωω and ωϕ with 471 × 10^6B¯B pairs produced in e^+e^− annihilation at √s = 10.58 GeV using the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We measure the branching fraction β(B^0 → ωω) = (1.2 ± 0.3^(+0.3)_(-0.2) × 10^(−6), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic, corresponding to a significance of 4.4 standard deviations. We also determine the upper limit β(B^0 → ωω) < 0.7 × 10^(−6) at 90% confidence level. These measurements provide the first evidence for the decay B^0 → ωω, and an improvement of the upper limit for the decay B^0 → ωϕ.

Measurement of theI=1/2Kπ S-wave amplitude from Dalitz plot analyses ofηc→KK¯πin two-photon interactions

2016

We study the processes γγ→K^0_SK^±π^∓ and γγ→K^+K^−π^0 using a data sample of 519  fb^(−1) recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e− collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the Υ(nS) (n=2, 3, 4) resonances. We observe ηc decays to both final states and perform Dalitz plot analyses using a model-independent partial wave analysis technique. This allows a model-independent measurement of the mass-dependence of the I=1/2 Kπ S-wave amplitude and phase. A comparison between the present measurement and those from previous experiments indicates similar behavior for the phase up to a mass of 1.5  GeV/c^2. In contrast, the amplitudes show very marked…

Study of thee+e−→K+K−reaction in the energy range from 2.6 to 8.0 GeV

2015

The e^+e^− → K^+K^− cross section and charged-kaon electromagnetic form factor are measured in the e^+e^− center-of-mass energy range (E) from 2.6 to 8.0 GeV using the initial-state radiation technique with an undetected photon. The study is performed using 469  fb^(−1) of data collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II2 e^+e^− collider at center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The form factor is found to decrease with energy faster than 1/E^2 and approaches the asymptotic QCD prediction. Production of the K^+K^− final state through the J/ψ and ψ(2S) intermediate states is observed. The results for the kaon form factor are used together with data from other experiments to perform a mod…

Collins asymmetries in inclusive chargedKKandKπpairs produced ine+e−annihilation

2015

We present measurements of Collins asymmetries in the inclusive process e^+e^− → h_1h_2X, h_1h_2 = KK, Kπ, ππ, at the center-of-mass energy of 10.6 GeV, using a data sample of 468  fb^(−1) collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II B factory at SLAC National Accelerator Center. Considering hadrons in opposite thrust hemispheres of hadronic events, we observe clear azimuthal asymmetries in the ratio of unlike sign to like sign, and unlike sign to all charged h_1h_2 pairs, which increase with hadron energies. The Kπ asymmetries are similar to those measured for the ππ pairs, whereas those measured for high-energy KK pairs are, in general, larger.

Observation of directCPviolation in the measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angleγwithB±→D(*)K(*)±decays

Using up to 474 million BB pairs, we obtain γ=(69_(-16)^(+17))° modulo 180°. The total uncertainty is dominated by the statistical component, with the experimental and amplitude-model systematic uncertainties amounting to ±4°. The corresponding two-standard-deviation region is 41° < γ < 102°. This result is inconsistent with γ=0 with a significance of 5.9 standard deviations.

Time-integrated luminosity recorded by the BABARdetector at the PEP-IIe+e- collider

We describe a measurement of the time-integrated luminosity of the data collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider at the ϒ(4S), ϒ(3S), and ϒ(2S) resonances and in a continuum region below each resonance. We use data-corrected simulation to determine the cross-sections and reconstruction efficiencies for these processes, as well as the major backgrounds. Due to the large cross-sections of e^+e^-→e^+e^- and e^+e^-→μ^+μ^-, the statistical uncertainties of the measurement are substanti…

2005

We report measurements of the inclusive electron momentum spectra in decays of charged and neutral B mesons, and of the ratio of semileptonic branching fractions B(B+-> Xe nu) and B(B-0 -> Xe nu). These were performed on a sample of 231x10(6) B (B) over bar events recorded with the BABAR detector at the Upsilon(4S) resonance. Events are selected by fully reconstructing a hadronic decay of one B meson and identifying an electron among the decay products of the recoiling (B) over bar meson. We obtain B(B+-> Xe nu)/B(B-0 -> Xe nu)=1.074 +/- 0.041((stat))+/- 0.026((syst)).

Limits on tau lepton-flavor violating decays into three charged leptons

2010

A search for the neutrinoless, lepton-flavor violating decay of the tau lepton into three charged leptons has been performed using an integrated luminosity of 468 fb(-1) collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider. In all six decay modes considered, the numbers of events found in data are compatible with the background expectations. Upper limits on the branching fractions are set in the range (1.8-3.3) x 10(-8) at 90% confidence level.

Measurement of initial-state–final-state radiation interference in the processese+e−→μ+μ−γande+e−→π+π−γ

2015

Charge asymmetry in processes e+ e- --> mu+ mu- gamma and e+ e- --> pi+ pi- gamma is measured using 232 fb-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies near 10.58 GeV. An observable is introduced and shown to be very robust against detector asymmetries while keeping a large sensitivity to the physical charge asymmetry that results from the interference between initial and final state radiation. The asymmetry is determined as afunction of the invariant mass of the final-state tracks from production threshold to a few GeV/c2. It is compared to the expectation from QED for e+ e- --> mu+ mu- gamma and from theoretical models for e+ e- --> pi+ pi- gamma. A clear interfe…

Measurement of Time-DependentCPAsymmetries inB0→D(*)±D∓Decays

2005

We present updated results on time-dependent CP asymmetries in fully reconstructed B-0 -> D-(*)+/-pi(-/+) and B-0 -> D-+/-rho(-/+) decays in approximately 232x10(6) Upsilon(4S)-> B (B) over bar events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. From a time-dependent maximum-likelihood fit we obtain for the parameters related to the CP violation angle 2 beta+gamma: a(D pi)=-0.010 +/- 0.023 +/- 0.007, c(lep)(D pi)=-0.033 +/- 0.042 +/- 0.012, a(D*)pi=-0.040 +/- 0.023 +/- 0.010, c(lep)(D*)pi=0.049 +/- 0.042 +/- 0.015,a(D rho)=-0.024 +/- 0.031 +/- 0.009, c(lep)(D rho)=-0.098 +/- 0.055 +/- 0.018, where the first error is statistical and the second is syste…
