Aproximación cartográfica a la distribución del índice de Emberger en la Comunidad Valenciana

The distribution of Emberger's bioclimatic index in the Valencian Community is mapped on the basis of analysis of meterological data from 91 weather stations within the Community and 28 located in the adjoining provinces. Confirmation is given of the classification as dry areas of several parts of central and southern Alacant, the basins of Lliria and Cofrentes in the province of Valencia and the zone surrounding the mouth of the Ebro in Castelló. The chief humid areas correspond to mountain ranges running along geographical parallels. Links are established with the potential climax formations. A phenologic sampling of a population including 78 plant species, made following Ellenberg's method, has been used to assess the differential effect of wind and other climatic factors on the phenology of plant species and communities that inhabit the great dune named El Pujol, in the Devesa de l'Albufera, near Valencia (Spain).
