Villevaudé (Seine-et-Marne) Bois Gratuel, Les Mazarins. Occupations gauloises, antiques et alto-médiévales : rapport de fouilles

Ce rapport rend compte de deux opérations de fouilles archéologiques contigües aux lieux-dits « Les Mazarins » et « Bois Gratuel », sur la commune de Villevaudé. Elles se sont déroulées en 2017 et 2018, sur une surface totale de près de 8,3 ha.Les nombreux vestiges découverts (4 308 structures) se répartissent entre trois grandes périodes chronologiques (La Tène, l’Antiquité, le haut Moyen Âge), outre quelques fugaces traces néolithiques.Deux habitats laténiens se succèdent d’abord. The study of corpse and bone manipulation during the middle and late Iron Age has been largely motivated by the repeated discovery of human deposits in the archaeological record, comprising of either whole corpses or dismantled bones. While rereading this hierarchical and complex behaviour, we must also consider the vocabulary that is used ta describe and analyse the process of funerary pratice and worship during the La Tène period.

Combining archaeological studies and archaeometric analyses, this synthesis presents the importance of the iron economy in the eastern part of the Paris Basin from the First Iron Age to the early Middle Ages. The first contributions of this research project concern technological changes in the production system of iron objects. The attention paid to the share of recycling in production somewhat modifies the previous discourse in attempts to quantify the types of forged objects (tools, weapons, ornaments, etc).
