Heteropodinae: Transfers and Synonymies (Arachnida: Araneae: Sparassidae)
New taxonomical and systematical results concerning the subfamily Heteropodinae are presented. The following new synyonyms are recognized: Adrastis Simon 1880, Panaretus Simon 1880, Parhedrus Simon 1887 are junior synyonyms of Heteropoda Latreille 1804. Adrastis atomaria Simon 1880 =Heteropoda boiei (Doleschall 1859); Parhedrus fasciatus Reimoser 1927=Heteropoda ocyalina (Simon 1887); Heteropoda holzi Strand 1907, Tortula gloriosa Simon 1880, Tortula simoni Karsch 1884, Holconia beccarii Thorell 1890, Isopeda beccarii malangana Strand 1907=Heteropoda lunula (Doleschall 1857); Olios freycineti Walckenaer 1837, Olios albifrons Lucas 1852, Helicopis maderiana Thorell 1875, Palystes ledleyi Hog…
Molecular phylogeny of the spider family Sparassidae with focus on the genus Eusparassus and notes on the RTA-clade and ‘Laterigradae’
The phylogeny of the spider family Sparassidae is comprehensively investigated using four molecular markers (mitochondrial COI and 16S; nuclear H3 and 28S). Sparassidae was recovered as monophyletic and as most basal group within the RTA-clade. The higher-level clade Dionycha was not but monophyly of RTA-clade was supported. No affiliation of Sparassidae to other members of the 'Laterigradae' (Philodromidae, Selenopidae and Thomisidae) was observed, and the crab-like posture of this group assumed a result of convergent evolution. Only Philodromidae and Selenopidae were found members of a supported clade, but together with Salticidae and Corinnidae, while Thomisidae was nested within the hig…
Sparassidae from Japan. II. First Pseudopoda species and new Sinopoda species (Araneae: Sparassidae: Heteropodinae)
The genus Pseudopoda is recorded for the first time from Japan. Pseudopoda kasariana sp. nov. (_??_, _??_) and Pseudopoda spirembolus sp. nov. (_??_, _??_) are described from Amami-oshima Island and Okinawajima Island respectively. Four new Sinopoda species are described: Sinopoda albofasciata (_??_), Sinopoda derivata (_??_, _??_), Sinopoda ogatai (_??_, _??_) and Sinopoda stellatops (_??_, _??_). Sinopoda koreana (Paik 1968) is recorded for the first time from Japan. New records of Sinopoda okinawana Jager & Ono 2000 and S. tanikawai Jager & Ono 2000 are presented. Within the genus Sinopoda Jager 1999 the okinawana species-group is newly diagnosed, which is represented by S. albofasciata …
Sparassidae of Japan. I. New Species of Olios, Heteropoda, and Sinopoda, with Notes on Some Known Species (Araneae: Sparassidae: Sparassinae and Heteropodinae)
Four new species of the spider family Sparassidae are described from Japan under the names Olios japonicus sp. nov., Heteropoda simplex sp. nov., Sinopoda okinawana sp. nov. and S. tanikawai sp. nov. The genus Olios is recorded for the first time from Japan. Taxonomical notes and new records of some known species and comments on diagnostic characters of the subfamilies and genera of the Japanese Sparassidae are presented.
On Adcatomus ciudadus Karsch 1880, a remarkable spider species from Lima, with comments on South American Sparassidae (Arachnida, Araneae)
The ♂-holotype of Adcatomus ciudadus Karsch 1880 was located in the Zoologisches Museum der Humboldt-Universitat Berlin and recognized as a representative of the spider family Sparassidae. A redescription of the holotype is given and the systematic position of the species is discussed. A review on taxonomic work on South American Sparassidae is also given.
Sparassidae in China 2. Species from the Collection in Changchun (Arachnida: Araneae)
Sparassidae in China. 1. Revised list of known species with new transfers, new synonymies and type designations (Arachnida: Araneae)
This paper starts a revisional study of Chinese Sparassidae. A total of three subfamilies, eight genera and 53 species is known so far from China. Detailed data on type material of each species with references and known distribution are given. Following species are transferred to other genera: Olios menghaiensis (Wang 1990) COMB. NOV. (from Heteropoda), Olios nanningensis (Hu & Ru 1988) COMB. NOV. (from Micrommata), Olios tiantongensis (Zhang & Kim 1996) COMB. NOV (from Heteropoda), Pseudopoda bibulba (Xu & Yin 2000) COMB. NOV. (from Heteropoda), Pseudopoda marsupia (Wang 1991) COMB. NOV. (from Sinopoda), Sinopoda dayong (Bao, Yin & Yan 2000) COMB. NOV. (from Heteropoda), and Sinopoda himal…
