Estimation of lead-time bias and its impact on the outcome of surveillance for the early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Lead-time is the time by which diagnosis is anticipated by screening/surveillance with respect to the symptomatic detection of a disease. Any screening program, including surveillance for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), is subject to lead-time bias. Data regarding lead-time for HCC are lacking. The relationships between urban mobility and the process of social inclusion/exclusion have been highlighted by several scholars (i.e., LUCAS 2012; RICCI 2016). The possibility to move freely to reach in an easy and accessible way the destinations required to satisfy daily needs is a key factor linked to well-being of citizens, as well as to their possibility to actively participate in the life of their community.
