Four-neutrino oscillations at SNO

2000

We discuss the potential of SNO to constraint the four-neutrino mixing schemes favoured by the results of all neutrino oscillations experiments. These schemes allow simultaneous transitions of solar $\nu_e's$ into active $\nu_\mu$'s, $\nu_\tau$'s and sterile $\nu_s$ controlled by the additional parameter $\cos^2(\vartheta_{23}) \cos^2(\vartheta_{24})$ and they contain as limiting cases the pure $\nu_e$-active and $\nu_e$-sterile neutrino oscillations. We first obtain the solutions allowed by the existing data in the framework of the BP00 standard solar model and quantify the corresponding predictions for the CC and the NC/CC event ratios at SNO for the different allowed regions as a functio…

Metagenomic dynamics in Olea europaea after root damage and Verticillium dahliae infection

2019

AbstractThe olive tree is of particular economic interest in the Mediterranean basin. Researchers have conducted several studies on one of the most devastating disorders affecting this tree, the Verticillium wilt of olive, which causes significant economic damage in numerous areas of this crop. We have analyzed the temporal metagenomic samples of a transcriptomic study in Olea europaea roots and leaves after root-damage and after a root Verticillium dahliae infection (Jimenez-Ruiz et al. 2017). Our results indicate that this infection, although led by Verticillium, is driven not by a single species but by a polymicrobial community, including their natural endophytes, which acts as a consort…

Solar Neutrinos

2012

The study of solar neutrinos has given a fundamental contribution both to astroparticle and to elementary particle physics, offering an ideal test of solar models and offering at the same time relevant indications on the fundamental interactions among particles. After reviewing the striking results of the last two decades, which were determinant to solve the long standing solar neutrino puzzle and refine the Standard Solar Model, we focus our attention on the more recent results in this field and on the experiments presently running or planned for the near future. The main focus at the moment is to improve the knowledge of the mass and mixing pattern and especially to study in detail the lo…

Cosmic-ray muon flux at Canfranc Underground Laboratory

2019

Residual flux and angular distribution of high-energy cosmic muons have been measured in two underground locations at the Canfranc Underground Laboratory (LSC) using a dedicated Muon Monitor. The instrument consists of three layers of fast scintillation detector modules operating as 352 independent pixels. The monitor has flux-defining area of 1 m${}^{2}$, covers all azimuth angles, and zenith angles up to $80^\circ$. The measured integrated muon flux is $(5.26 \pm 0.21) \times 10^{-3}$ m${}^{-2}$s${}^{-1}$ in the Hall A of the LAB2400 and $(4.29 \pm 0.17) \times 10^{-3}$ m${}^{-2}$s${}^{-1}$ in LAB2500. The angular dependence is consistent with the known profile and rock density of the sur…
