Anna Bērzkalne sarakstē ar Oskaru Loritsu
Maģistra darba pamatā ir latviešu folkloristes Annas Bērzkalnes (1891–1956) un igauņu folklorista Oskara Loritsa (Oskar Loorits, 1900–1961) sarakstes analīze. Pētījuma avots ir 334 folkloristu sarakstes vienības (galvenokārt vēstules un pastkartes), kas rakstītas laikā no 1923. līdz 1943. gadam vācu, krievu, angļu, latviešu un igauņu valodā. Annas Bērzkalnes un Oskara Loritsa sarakste uzlūkota gan kā zinātnieku dzīves liecība, gan kā folkloristikas vēstures parādība (īpaši vēsturiski ģeogrāfiskās metodes pielietojuma un starptautiskās folkloristikas kontekstā). Cooperation among professional folklore researchers is a considerable issue for the history of the discipline. In the 1920s and 1930s, the most noteworthy Latvian partner in the then existing international collaboration network was Anna Bērzkalne (1891–1956). A Folklorist in the Soviet Spotlight
Abstract The article seeks to illuminate the ideologically motivated circumstances of Latvian folklore studies during the period of unconditional Soviet totalitarianism. With the strengthening of the Soviet occupation regime in Latvia in the late 1940s, many interwar folklorists became victims of ideologically motivated disdain and subsequent career limitation. ‘Bourgeois’ scholarship and the methods applied in folklore studies during the interwar period were denounced and recognised as harmful to the new Soviet order.
