Role of theΔ*(1940)in theπ+p→K+Σ+(1385)andpp→nK+Σ+(1385)reactions
The pp -> nK(+)Sigma(+)(1385) reaction is a very good isospin 3/2 filter for studying Delta(++)* resonance decaying to K+Sigma(+)(1385). Within the effective Lagrangian method, we investigate the Sigma (1385) (spin parity J(P) = 3/2(+)) hadronic production in the pi(+) p -> K+Sigma(+)(1385) and pp -> nK(+)Sigma(+)(1385) reactions. For the pi(+) p -> K+Sigma(+)(1385) reaction, in addition to the "background" contributions from t-channel K*(0) exchange and u-channel Lambda(1115) and Sigma(0)(1193) exchange, we also consider the contribution from the s-channel Delta*(1940) resonance, which has significant coupling to the K Sigma(1385) channel. We show that the inclusion of the Delta*(1940) res…
Role of the $\Delta^*(1940)$ in the $\pi^+ p \to K^+ \Sigma^+(1385)$ and $pp \to n K^+ \Sigma^+(1385)$ reactions
The $p p \to n K^+ \Sigma^+(1385)$ reaction is a very good isospin $3/2$ filter for studying $\Delta^{++*}$ resonance decaying to $K^+\Sigma^+(1385)$. Within the effective Lagrangian method, we investigate the $\Sigma(1385)$ (spin-parity $J^P = 3/2^+$) hadronic production in the $\pi^+ p \to K^+ \Sigma^+(1385)$ and $p p \to n K^+ \Sigma^+(1385)$ reactions. For $\pi^+ p \to K^+ \Sigma^+(1385)$ reaction, in addition to the "background" contributions from $t$-channel $K^{*0}$ exchange, $u$-channel $\Lambda(1115)$ and $\Sigma^0(1193)$ exchange, we also consider the contribution from the $s$-channel $\Delta^*(1940)$ resonance, which has significant coupling to $K\Sigma(1385)$ channel. We show th…
Substructure of Multiquark Hadrons (Snowmass 2021 White Paper)
In recent years there has been a rapidly growing body of experimental evidence for existence of exotic, multiquark hadrons, i.e. mesons which contain additional quarks, beyond the usual quark-antiquark pair and baryons which consist of more than three quarks. In all cases with robust evidence they contain at least one heavy quark Q=c or b, the majority including two heavy quarks. Two key theoretical questions have been triggered by these discoveries: (a) how are quarks organized inside these multiquark states -- as compact objects with all quarks within one confinement volume, interacting via color forces, perhaps with an important role played by diquarks, or as deuteron-like hadronic molec…
Observation of the doubly radiative decay η′→γγπ0
Based on a sample of 1.31 billion J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector, we report the study of the doubly radiative decay eta' -> gamma gamma pi(0) for the first time, where the eta' meson is produced via the J/psi -> gamma eta' decay. The branching fraction of eta' -> gamma gamma pi(0) inclusive decay is measured to be B(eta' -> gamma gamma pi(0))(Incl) = (3.20 +/- 0.07(stat) +/- 0.23(sys)) x 10(-3), while the branching fractions of the dominant process eta' -> gamma omega and the non-resonant component are determined to be B(eta' -> gamma omega) x B(omega -> gamma pi(0)) = (23.7 +/- 1.4(stat) +/- 1.8(sys)) x 10(-4) and B(eta' -> gamma gamma pi(0))(NR) = (6.16 +/- 0.64(stat) +/-…
