During the 60s and 70s of the 20th century, the widespread construction of new buildings in the agricultural areas around the city centre of Palermo have changed the original landscape. A rare exception is represented by an area called Fossa della Garofala; in this place the topic of “stratification” creates a connection between the geological history and the most recent anthropogenic interventions. Il rialzo di perriera che, con un dislivello di circa sei metri, definisce il confine fisico tra la cittadella universitaria e l’area libera sulla quale si attesta a Nord-Ovest l’alto sbarramento edificato di Corso Pisani è certamente uno dei luoghi più emblematici che informano il paesaggio della Fossa della Garofala. Filigree constructions vs solid constructions. The relationship between structure and architecture in the contemporary age

Historically, building shape and structure have been designed, in solid construction, at the same moment. Their relationship is evident in the organization of the building inner space.
