En este trabajo nos proponemos comparar los puntos de vista de Wittgenstein y Tolstói sobre la filosofía y la religión. Usualmente la bibliografía especializada ha subrayado las semejanzas entre ambos autores y la influencia del escritor ruso sobre el pensamiento de Wittgenstein, sin embargo nosotros defendemos que sus divergencias son importantes y significativas. Nos centramos en dos puntos: por una parte, sus diferentes concepciones de la filosofía misma; por la otra, el contraste entre la concepción ilustrada, evolucionista y racionalista de Tolstói acerca de la religión y la cultura, y la consideración ritual y anti-progresista de ellas propia de Wittgenstein. Stock Market Bubbles and Monetary Policy Effectiveness
In this paper we provide evidence on the response of stock prices to monetary policy shocks, but conditioning the analysis to the direction of the monetary policy surprises and to the business conditions. We follow a two steps approach: First we use the SVAR approach to identify monetary policy shocks; and then we conduct regression analyses of contemporary stock market returns and monetary policy shocks in order to extract the implicit relationship between these variables in the four scenarios defined. Evolution Over Time of Ventilatory Management and Outcome of Patients With Neurologic Disease
OBJECTIVES: To describe the changes in ventilator management over time in patients with neurologic disease at ICU admission and to estimate factors associated with 28-day hospital mortality. DESIGN: Secondary analysis of three prospective, observational, multicenter studies. SETTING: Cohort studies conducted in 2004, 2010, and 2016. PATIENTS: Adult patients who received mechanical ventilation for more than 12 hours. INTERVENTIONS: None. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS: Among the 20,929 patients enrolled, we included 4,152 (20%) mechanically ventilated patients due to different neurologic diseases.
