Enhanced manganese content in Mn-MCM-41 mesoporous silicas
The use of triethanolamine containing complexes of Si and Mn as hydrolytic precursors allows the synthesis of doped mesoporous silicas in which the Mn content can be modulated up to reach a minimum value of the Si/Mn molar ratio of 3. This limit value corresponds to a Mn relative content significantly higher than those reported to date for similar materials (Si/Mn = 6). According to XRD, TEM and porosity data, the mesoporous nature typical of the MCM-41 silicas is retained even for the samples having the highest Mn content.
A new method for fluoride determination by using fluorophores and dyes anchored onto MCM-41
A new colourimetric and fluorimetric method for fluoride determination in aqueous samples based on the specific reaction between fluoride and silica has been developed and applied on real samples. Ordered Mesoporous Silicon Oxynitrides
Ordered mesoporous materials: composition and topology control through chemistry
Abstract The atrane route constitutes a very versatile technique to obtain ordered mesoporous materials. A wide diversity of silica and silica-doped materials can be prepared by bringing into play fundamental synthesis parameters (like temperature, concentration and pH) which, in turn, allow modulation of the resulting material topology.
Optical properties of GaSe, characterization and simulation
Abstract The study focuses on structural and optical characterizations and properties of the GaSe lamellar material in one hand and on a numerical simulation of the photovoltaic properties of the ITO/GaSe heterojunction in a second hand. A few layers of GaSe were exfoliated from bulk GaSe on PET substrate. The optical transmission was recorded at room temperature. It shows that GaSe exhibits both indirect and direct band gaps of about 1.92 and 2.2 eV respectively. A value, as high as 104 cm−1, of the absorption coefficient was obtained. The corresponding refractive index has been determined numerically according to the Sellmeier and Cauchy models. The interesting value of absorption shows o…
Supramolecular self-assembling in mesostructured materials through charge tuning in the inorganic phase
Supramolecular self-assembling of organic CTA+ micelles and inorganic [VO(H2O)PO4]n^q-2 2D-anions for the isolation of hexagonal mesostructured materials can be reached by charge tuning in the inorganic phase through the adjustment of the vanadium mean oxidation state. Refractive index controlled by film morphology and free carrier density in undoped ZnO through sol-pH variation
Abstract Zinc oxide thin films, prepared by the sol-gel process, were deposited on glass substrate using spin coating technique. The sol-pH effect on the optical parameters was studied for alkaline sol. The surface roughness was investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and varied from 20 to 40 nm. The optical transmission measurements were carried out to evaluate the behavior of the extinction coefficient and the refractive index. An exponential decay of the refractive index ‘n’ as a function of wavelength was observed. The refractive index increases slightly when the pH increases to pH = 9.5 where it reaches its maximum. Beyond this value, it decreases sharply. This behavior has been …
