Äitimyyttejä ja äitisubjekteja. Sukupuolen ja kansallisuuden representaatio saamelaisessa lyriikassaa

Äitiyden teema nousee usein esille saamelaisessa nykylyriikassa.

This doctoral dissertation investigates the imagery of Sáminess in contemporary Sámi poetry. The research material of the study consists of poetry collections published in North Sámi and Norwegian by eight Sámi authors: Inger-Mari Aikio (previously Aikio-Arianaick), Inga Ravna Eira, Rawdna Carita Eira, Irene Larsen, Rauni Magga Lukkari, Hege Siri, Nils- Aslak Valkeapää, and Ellen Marie Vars. The emphasis is on poetry published at the turn of the 2010s. The study examines how Sáminess has been depicted and constructed in poetry from the 1980s onwards. The four original research articles ask how images traditionally connected to Sáminess and indigenousness are used in contemporary poems and h…

Mustan auringon paketti : myytti ja melankolia Irene Larsenin kokoelmassa Sortsolsafari

In this article, I analyse how the Sámi poet Irene Larsen rewrites Sámi oral tradition and mythology in her collection Sortsolsafari (2013, “Black Sun Safari”). I discuss how Larsen’s work differs from the mainstream of contemporary Sámi poetry and other indigenous literatures. Sortsolsafari has postmodernist features, which seldom are found in Sámi literature. Larsen situates mythological elements in present-day reality: a Sámi goddess uses a sewing machine and a shaman logs on to the Internet. These anachronisms create a comical effect. Instead of nostalgia and anti-colonialism, which traditionally characterize the depiction of the past in Sámi literature, the overall tone of Sortsolsafar…

"""Fluidity and flexibility of """"belonging"""": Uses of the concept in contemporary research"""

Studies framing “belonging” as a key focus and a central concept of research have increased significantly in the 2000s. This article explores the dimensions of belonging as a scholarly concept. The investigation is based on a qualitative content analysis of articles published in academic journals covering a large number of different disciplines. The article poses and answers the following research questions: How is belonging understood and used in contemporary research? What added value does the concept bring to scholarly discussions? In the analysis, five topoi of conceptualizing belonging – spatiality, intersectionality, multiplicity, materiality, and non-belonging – were identified. Afte…
