BRAF as a positive predictive biomarker: Focus on lung cancer and melanoma patients

2020

In the era of personalized medicine, BRAF mutational assessment is mandatory in advanced-stage melanoma and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. The identification of actionable mutations is crucial for the adequate management of these patients. To date various drugs have been implemented in clinical practice. Similarly, various methods may be adopted for the identification of BRAF mutations. Here, we briefly review the current literature on BRAF in melanoma and NSCLC, focusing attention in particular on the different methods and drugs adopted in these patients. In addition, an overview of the real-world practice in different Italian laboratories with high expertise in molecular pre…

Update of NGS analysis of Italian survey of second tumors in patients with diagnosis of GIST (gastrointestinal stromal tumor).

2020

e23518 Background: In patients with GIST, literature reports a risk of second primary tumors between 4.5% and 33% with different distribution in the worldwide. The network of 7 italian EURACAN centers has collected clinical and molecular features of GIST patients with second primary tumors. Methods: We reviewed the clinical characteristics of 201 patients with GIST and second primary tumors in order to evaluate association between risk of dead and each possible factor, using Kaplan meier curve, log-rank test and Cox model for Hazard Ratio and it’s interval Confidence 95% estimation. Furthermore, NGS analysis ( 56 gene onco panel) in 72 patients with GIST was performed. Results: On the basi…

Self-assembly and intra-cluster reactions of erbium and ytterbium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinates in the gas phase.

2014

RATIONALE: The study of surfactant organization in vacuum allows surfactant–surfactant interaction to be unveiled in the absence of surrounding solvent molecules. Knowledge on their chemical-physical properties may also lead to the definition of more efficient gas-phase carriers, air-cleaning agents and nanoreactors. In addition, the presence of lanthanide-group ions adds unique photochemical properties to surfactants. METHODS: The structural features, stability and fragmentation patterns of charged aggregates formed by lanthanide- functionalized surfactants, ytterbium and erbium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate ((AOT) 3 Yb and (AOT) 3 Er), have been investigated by electrospray ionization m…
