The methods of simultaneous and successive color matching have been studied for a set of seven color reference samples by 15 protanomalous and 21 deuteranomalous trichromat subjects. From comparison between both populations and a group of 25 trichromat normal ones, investigated previously under similar experimental conditions [J. Perez–Carpinell et al. New iPAD-based test for the detection of color vision deficiencies.

Purpose: To develop and validate a new iPad-based color vision test (Optopad). Methods: A total of 341 student eyes were enrolled in a first comparative study between Optopad and the Isihara tests. In a second comparative study, Optopad vs. the Farnworth-Munsell test (FM 100H), a total of 66 adult eyes were included. Besides the agreement between tests, the correlation between FM 100H and Optopad outcomes were investigated. Multiple regression analysis was used to predict the total error score (TES) from contrast thresholds measured with the Optopad test. Three-dimensional point spread function of multilayered flat lenses and its application to extreme subwavelength resolution

The three-dimensional (3D) point spread function (PSF) of multilayered flat lenses was proposed in order to characterize the diffractive behavior of these subwavelength image formers. We computed the polarization-dependent scalar 3D PSF for a wide range of slab widths and for different dissipative metamaterials. In terms similar to the Rayleigh criterion we determined unambiguously the limit of resolution featuring this type of image-forming device. We investigated the significant reduction of the limit of resolution by increasing the number of layers, which may drop nearly 1 order of magnitude. Practical formula for the evaluation of high-order multiphoton absorption in thin nonlinear media

We present an analytical formula for the fast and accurate evaluation of nonlinear absorption in materials exhibiting an admixture of different multiphoton processes. This approach is specifically addressed for its use in thin films when the slowly varying envelope approximation applies. The contribution of absorptions of distinct order is conveniently averaged in order to use well-known expressions for a single multiphoton process. In the latter case, therefore, our simple expression is reduced toward the exact solution.

Color memory in children

The methods of simultaneous and memory color matching have been studied for a set of five Munsell color samples by 50 children, 25 boys and 25 girls (ranging in age from 9 to 11 years). By comparison between this group and one of 50 young adult observers, we can deduce the following: (a) In children, as in young adults, the mean CIELAB total color difference, ΔE*ab, in simultaneous color matching is lower than the ΔE*ab by memory color matching.
