Smoking, diabetes, blood hypertension: possible etiologic role for Peyronie’s disease? Analysis in 279 patients with a control group in Sicily
Objective: To assess the proportion of patients with Peyronie’s Disease (PD) and the possible association with its potential risk factors in the general population of the central and western Sicily in our weekly andrological outpatient clinic. Materials and methods: We recruited a sample of 279 consecutive patients consulting our andrological outpatient clinic. Two arms were created: the first one composed by PD patients (men with symptoms suggestive for PD), the second one composed by patients with other andrological diseases (control arm). In situ observations of new particle formation in the tropical upper troposphere: the role of clouds and the nucleation mechanism
New particle formation (NPF), which generates nucleation mode aerosol, was observed in the tropical Upper Troposphere (UT) and Tropical Tropopause Layer (TTL) by in situ airborne measurements over South America (January–March 2005), Australia (November–December 2005), West Africa (August 2006) and Central America (2004–2007). Particularly intense NPF was found at the bottom of the TTL. Introduction: Does a correlation exist between smoking cessation and recurrence of non muscle invasive bladder carcinoma (NMI-BC) after TUR and adjuvant intravescical chemotherapy? Up today just few retrospective studies tried to answer this question. There is evidence that quitting decreases the risk of recurrence but nowadays it is still controversial how and how long it takes from quitting to reduce the risk (1-3). Variations in the mixing ratio of trace gases of tropospheric origin entering the stratosphere in the tropics are of interest for assessing both troposphere to stratosphere transport fluxes in the tropics and the impact of these transport fluxes on the composition of the tropical lower stratosphere. Anomaly patterns of carbon monoxide (CO) and long-lived tracers in the lower tropical stratosphere allow conclusions about the rate and the variability of tropical upwelling to be drawn. During the monsoon season of the year 2017 the airborne StratoClim mission took place in Kathmandu, Nepal with eight mission flights of the M-55 Geophysica in the upper troposphere/lower stratosphere (UT/LS) of the Asian Monsoon Anticyclone (AMA) over northern India, Nepal and Bangladesh. Scopo del lavoro Abbiamo condotto uno studio randomizzato a singolo cieco con gruppo sham per valutare gli effetti terapeutici della TECAR terapia su 96 pazienti affetti dalla malattia di La Peyronie (IPP) vista l’efficacia di questo trattamento sulle patologie fibrose. Materiali e metodi Novantasei pazienti affetti da IPP randomizzati con rapporto 2:1 sono stati suddivisi in 2 gruppi: gruppo trattato e gruppo sham. The impact of overshooting deep convection on local transport and mixing in the tropical upper troposphere/lower stratosphere (UTLS)
Abstract. In this study we examine the simulated downward transport and mixing of stratospheric air into the upper tropical troposphere as observed on a research flight during the SCOUT-O3 campaign in connection to a deep convective system. We use the Advanced Research Weather and Research Forecasting (WRF-ARW) model with a horizontal resolution of 333 m to examine this downward transport. The simulation reproduces the deep convective system, its timing and overshooting altitudes reasonably well compared to radar and aircraft observations. Long-lived contrails and convective cirrus above the tropical tropopause
Abstract. This study has two objectives: (1) it characterizes contrails at very low temperatures and (2) it discusses convective cirrus in which the contrails occurred. (1) Long-lived contrails and cirrus from overshooting convection are investigated above the tropical tropopause at low temperatures down to −88 °C from measurements with the Russian high-altitude research aircraft M-55 Geophysica, as well as related observations during the SCOUT-O3 field experiment near Darwin, Australia, in 2005. Predictive variables of spontaneous micturition recovery after acute urinary retention in men with benign prostatic enlargement: An observational prospective study
Objective: Acute urinary retention (AUR) is the sudden and painful inability to urinate spontaneously. AUR is one of the most significant complications of benign prostatic enlargement.
