Greci e Punici tra il Belice e il Platani. Il caso di Rocca Nadore

La fascia costiera tra la foce del fiume Belice ad Ovest e quella del Platani ad Est è dominata da Rocca Nadore, un’imponente e maestosa montagna, purtroppo irrimediabilmente deturpata da una cava. Sul versante orientale della rocca sono testimoniate, a partire dalla fine del VII sec. a.C., labili tracce di un insediamento sviluppatosi probabilmente in seguito alla fondazione della colonia greca di Selinunte. Gortyn, Profitis Ilias. Recent excavations in the geometric and archaic settlement

The settlement on Profitis Ilias and Armi Hills, located 500 m east of Gortyn acropolis, probably developed at the end of the Bronze age and was abandoned at the secondhalf of 7th century BC. Is constitutes a very important point of observation to reconstruct the complex dinamics of Gortyn's region, between the end of the Minoan culture and the Birth of the polis. The excavations, on yhe high Southern slopes of Profitis Ilias hill, involved a partof the built-up area dated to 8th - 7th century BC, set on terraces and crossed by an East-West Street. Gortina. Nuovi dati dagli scavi dell’insediamento di Profitis Ilias

Recent research in the Iron age settlement on the hill of Profitis Ilias (Gortyn) revealed part of a building belonging to the latest phase of the village (VIII-VII cent. B.C.), and perhaps intended to some civic function. Its building process involved the demolition of a part of a thick wall dated in the Protogeometric age, possibly to be identified with the defense wall of the former settlement. The stratigraphy in the building area showed significant evidence for the site occupation after the abandonment of the village.

La chiusura degli intercolumni nel Tempio della Vittoria

Un attento riesame delle strutture superstiti del Tempio della Vittoria, costruito ad Himera dopo la vittoria del 480 a.C. contro i Cartaginesi e riportato alla luce da Pirro Marconi alla fine degli anni ’20 del secolo scorso, ha consentito di scoprire che la peristasi dell’edificio, almeno sui lati lunghi, era chiusa da setti murari, la cui realizzazione può ritenersi contestuale alla costruzione del tempio.
