Oncology beyond the hospital: 7 years taking care of cancer patients from the very begining until the last consequences.
75 Background: Comprehensive and continuous care is esential for the correct management of cancer patients. To achieve this, specific programs for early diagnosis and long survivor care are needed. Since 2007, within the project “Oncology beyond the Hospital: Oncologic assistance at the Universitary General Hospital of Valencia”, the Oncologist Liaison was created. Methods: Two tracks were designed: High-resolution track for patients with suspicion of non-diagnosed cáncer; and Oncologist Liaison track, to organize the follow-up of cáncer long survivors. We present a descriptive and retrospective study by reviewing medical records of patients referred to the high-resolution diagnostic consu…
Abstract GS2-04: Efficacy results from CIBOMA/2004-01_GEICAM/2003-11 study: A randomized phase III trial assessing adjuvant capecitabine after standard chemotherapy for patients with early triple negative breast cancer
Abstract Background: Triple negative breast cancers (TNBC) have a greater risk of relapse than non-TNBC. New therapeutic approaches are needed for these patients (pts). CIBOMA/2004-01_GEICAM/2003-11 is a multinational, randomized phase III trial exploring adjuvant capecitabine (X) after completion of standard treatment in early TNBC pts. Materials and Methods: Patients with operable, node-positive (or node-negative with tumor size ≥ 1 cm), centrally confirmed hormone receptor-negative, HER2-negative early BC, who had received 6–8 cycles (cy) of standard anthracycline and/or taxane-containing chemotherapy or 4 cy of doxorubicin-cyclophosphamide (for node-negative disease) in the (neo)adjuvan…
Three-arm randomized phase II study evaluating oral vinorelbine plus capecitabine versus paclitaxel plus gemcitabine versus docetaxel plus gemcitabine as first-line chemotherapy in patients with metastatic breast cancer: Final results (NorCap-CA223 trial)
1044 Background: Combination chemotherapy (CT) is among the standard treatment options in metastatic breast cancer (MBC), especially in patients (pts) with visceral metastases or need of rapid symp...
