Sélection à l'entrée des universités et emploi : une comparaison entre le Royaume-Uni et la France
International audience; The aim of this article is to see if in France and the United Kingdom, graduates from the more selective departments have better employment prospects than those from other departments, even when individual characteristics of the graduates are controlled for. Logit models were tested usiing two employment indicators (the probability of being unemployed and the probability of occupying a high-grade occupation), for each of the three subject groups (Social sciences, Languages and Science). The model show that the selectivity of British university departments has greater effect on graduate employment prospects than that of French university departments.
University Selectivity and Employment : A Comparison between British and French Graduates
This comparative study looks at if the graduates from the more selective departments in the United Kingdom and France have better employment prospects than those from less selective ones. The departmental selectivity is indicated by the A-Level points score of the First Degree students in the United Kingdom and in France by the proportion of Maîtrise and DEA/DESS graduates who were in advance age wise at the Baccalauréat.
