Determination of Strong-Phase Parameters in D→KS,L0π+π−

We report the most precise measurements to date of the strong-phase parameters between D^{0} and D[over ¯]^{0} decays to K_{S,L}^{0}π^{+}π^{-} using a sample of 2.93  fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} annihilation data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. Our results provide the key inputs for a binned model-independent determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle γ/ϕ_{3} with B decays. Using our results, the decay model sensitivity to the γ/ϕ_{3} measurement is expected to be between 0.7° and 1.2°, approximately a factor of three smaller than that achievable with previous measurements, based on the studies of the simulated data. The…

Evidence for e+e−→γηc(1S) at center-of-mass energies between 4.01 and 4.60 GeV

We present first evidence for the process e(+)e(-) -> gamma eta(c)(1S) at six center-of-mass energies between 4.01 and 4.60 GeV using data collected by the BESIII experiment operating at BEPCII. We measure the Born cross section at each energy using a combination of twelve eta(c)(1S) decay channels. We also combine all six energies under various assumptions for the energy-dependence of the cross section. If the process is assumed to proceed via the Y(4260), we measure a peak Born cross section sigma(peak)(e(+)e(-) -> gamma eta(c)(1S)) = 2.11 +/- 0.49 (stat.) +/- 0.36 (syst.) pb with a statistical significance of 4.2 sigma.

Measurement of Proton Electromagnetic Form Factors in e+e−→pp¯ in the Energy Region 2.00–3.08 GeV

The process of e+e−→pp¯ is studied at 22 center-of-mass energy points (s) from 2.00 to 3.08 GeV, exploiting 688.5 pb−1 of data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. The Born cross section (σpp¯) of e+e−→pp¯ is measured with the energy-scan technique and it is found to be consistent with previously published data, but with much improved accuracy. In addition, the electromagnetic form-factor ratio (|GE/GM|) and the value of the effective (|Geff|), electric (|GE|), and magnetic (|GM|) form factors are measured by studying the helicity angle of the proton at 16 center-of-mass energy points. |GE/GM| and |GM| are determined with high accuracy, providing uncertaintie…

The four decay modes D0→ϕπ0, D0→ϕη, D+→ϕπ+, and D+→ϕK+ are studied by using a data sample taken at the centre-of-mass energy s=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb$^{−1}$. The branching fractions of the first three decay modes are measured to be B(D0→ϕπ0)=(1.168±0.028±0.028)×10−3, B(D0→ϕη)=(1.81±0.46±0.06)×10−4, and B(D+→ϕπ+)=(5.70±0.05±0.13)×10−3, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. In addition, the upper limit of the branching fraction for D+→ϕK+ is given to be 2.1×10−5 at the 90% confidence level. Time performance of a triple-GEM detector at high rate

Gaseous detectors are used in high energy physics as trackers or, more generally, as devices for the measurement of the particle position. For this reason, they must provide high spatial resolution and they have to be able to operate in regions of intense radiation, i.e. around the interaction point of collider machines. Among these, Micro Pattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGD) are the latest frontier and allow to overcome many limitations of the pre-existing detectors, such as the radiation tolerance and the rate capability. The gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) is a MPGD that exploits an intense electric field in a reduced amplification region in order to prevent discharges. Several amplification s…

Precision Measurement of the e+e−→Λc+Λ¯c− Cross Section Near Threshold

The cross section of the e(+)e(-) -> Lambda(+)(c)(Lambda) over bar (-)(c) process is measured with unprecedented precision using data collected with the BESIII detector at root s = 4574.5, 4580.0, 4590.0 and 4599.5 MeV. The nonzero cross section near the Lambda(+)(c)(Lambda) over bar (-)(c) production threshold is cleared. At center-of-mass energies root s = 4574.5 and 4599.5 MeV, the higher statistics data enable us to measure the Lambda(c) polar angle distributions. From these, the.c electric over magnetic form-factor ratios (vertical bar G(E)/G(M)vertical bar) are measured for the first time. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like $XYZ$ states at BESIII and $B$ factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related $X(1835)$ meson state at BESIII, as well as the threshold measurements of charm mesons and charm baryons.
