Sleep-time physiological recovery is associated with eating habits in distressed working-age Finns with overweight: secondary analysis of a randomised controlled trial

Background Association of physiological recovery with nutrition has scarcely been studied. We investigated whether physiological recovery during sleep relates to eating habits, i.e., eating behaviour and diet quality. Methods Cross-sectional baseline analysis of psychologically distressed adults with overweight (N = 252) participating in a lifestyle intervention study in three Finnish cities. Recovery measures were based on sleep-time heart rate variability (HRV) measured for 3 consecutive nights. Homing blogs as ambivalent spaces for feminine agency

This article discusses a form of lifestyle blogging where women blog about their homes and everyday lives. In these homing blogs, selfrepresentations are characteristically spatially demarcated within the private sphere of the home. As these repeated representations of women in their homes take place in the public space of the internet, homing blogs work towards naturalizing the home as a women’s sphere. Written and commented on mostly by other women, homing blogs represent a feminine form of self-expression and communication that functions as a discursive expression of ongoing social, economic, and cultural changes in affluent Western societies. Writing as Part of the Everyday in Pentti Saarikoski’s and Mirkka Rekola’s Poetry This article examines the processes of writing as part of the everyday in Pentti Saarikoski’s kuljen missa kuljen and Mirkka Rekola’s Ilo ja epasymmetria, both published in 1965. I argue that both collections make this process visible, and both authors thus actively participate in the discussion about poetry in the 1960s through their poetry. While Saarikoski’s poetry was appreciated as communicative, democratic poetry, Rekola’s writing was considered as old-fashioned modernist poetry – a characterization associated at the time also with Finnish-Swedish poetry.
