Introduction: Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (MTC) is a rare malignancy of the parafollicular C cells of the thyroid gland. Aim of our study is reporting retrospective analysis of our experience about the surgical treatment of MTC, especially pointing on limphadenectomy. Patients and methods: from January 2000 to March 2006, were performed 546 thyroidectomy, 6 of them for MTC (1.09%): 5 sporadic and 1 familiar. Background and Objectives Performing a central venous catheterization (CVC) on older patients for long-term central intravenous therapy could be a very important procedure. It could be associated with a high incidence of related complications, especially on over 65-year-old, high risk, selected patients. Methods The authors analyzed the results of 72 central venous CVC of internal jugular vein performed on over 65-year-old patients with ultrasound (US) guide from January 1998 to April 2003. Aorto-duodenal fistulae (ADF) are the most frequent aorto-enteric fistulae (80%), presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding. We report the first case of a man with a secondary aorto-duodenal fistula presenting with a history of persistent occlusive syndrome. A 59-year old man who underwent an aortic-bi-femoral bypass 5 years ago, presented with dyspepsia and biliary vomiting. Computed tomography scan showed in the third duodenal segment the presence of inflammatory tissue with air bubbles between the duodenum and prosthesis, adherent to the duodenum.
