A social survey on the effects of environmental noise on the residents of Pamplona, Spain
Abstract An extensive noise survey carried out in the city of Pamplona, Spain over 2 years has allowed us to elaborate a detailed daytime acoustic map of this city. The degree of noise annoyance in the community and its relationship with the measured noise levels has also been studied by means of a social survey.
The Community Response to Aircraft Noise Around Six Spanish Airports
Abstract The community response to aircraft noise has been studied through a social survey. A total of 1800 persons living in the vicinity of six major Spanish airports have been interviewed at their homes concerning the environmental quality of the area, dissatisfaction with road traffic noise and aircraft noise, activities interfered with by noise, most disturbing aircraft types, and subjective evaluation of airport impact. A SURVEY ON THE ACOUSTICAL CONDITIONS IN A SPANISH SECONDARY SCHOOL
The present paper reports on a study of the acoustical conditions in a secondary school of Gandia (Spain). Our data include a complete information on noise levels, reverberation times and speech intelligibility of classrooms, together with the results of two social surveys adressed to teachers and students in order to know their attitudes towards this problem.
Road traffic noise around schools: a risk for pupil's performance?
Noise levels around educational centres can negatively affect the performance of both teachers and pupils. Two public schools in Valencia, Spain, were selected for study. One of these schools was exposed to excessively high road traffic noise levels while the other was located in a relatively quiet area. The socioeconomic level of those attending the schools was very similar. A set of external and internal noise measurements were carried out, along with two different attention tests among the children. Noise Levels in an Urban Hospital and Workers' Subjective Responses
Internal noise levels were measured in a 232-point grid that encompassed the main building of a major University Hospital in Valencia, Spain. Most noise equivalent sound levels that were obtained exceeded 55 dBA, and in some instances these sound levels were very high. Hospital workers' subjective responses to noise were evaluated with a self-answered questionnaire. A total of 295 workers volunteered to participate. Their answers revealed that the most important noise sources were located primarily inside the hospital.
