Food contact materials (FCM) represent a major economic issue and a large field of innovation. Food packaging production must be in compliance with the European Regulation 1935/2004: the third article specifies that FCM must not transfer their constituents to food in quantities which could endanger human health under normal or foreseeable conditions of use.
