Technical and economical comparison between different topologies of PV plant under mismatch effect

This paper presents a technical and economical comparative analysis between two topology of photovoltaic plant. In particular the performances of series-parallel (SP) and total cross tied (TCT), topologies are taken into account, referring to a partially shaded photovoltaic plant. Thanks to a simulation model developed, in the paper the mismatch effects due to three different shading conditions, for SP and TCT topology plant, are quantified. A complete innovative measurement system (D2SI - device for the diagnosis of insulation systems) for both acquisition, analysis and processing of partial discharge signals generated in insulation systems under voltage stress (IEC standard), was designed and realized; several measurements on practical insulation systems demonstrated the full and correct equipment operation.

Economic analysis on dynamic photovoltaic systems in new Italian “feed in tariffs” context

Dynamic photovoltaic generators, based on the application of solar-trackers, are able to give an increment to the electric energy production from solar source. Their realization and maintenance costs are certainly higher than those of fixed ones. In this paper the Authors propose a method to estimate the increment of electrical energy generation that must be guaranteed by a dynamic photovoltaic generator, so as its realization could be more favorable with respect to that of a fixed generator one with the same rated power.
