Masteroppgave bygg BYG508 - Universitetet i Agder 2018 This master-thesis investigates the effects on multi-story buildings generated by seismic loading and the potential diversity of results based on wrong assumptions in an early stage of engineering. A point of focus has been the different capacities of the horizontal slabs in the building, and if it is possible to use results from the modal-analysis directly for further calculations. Because seismic loading often causes large horizontal forces, we have also considered different methods for improving capacities regarding in-plane shear-forces.
