LE AZIENDE FAMILIARI DEL DISTRETTO DELLA PESCA DI MAZARA DEL VALLO

This essay presents the first results of a research that is part of a recent study aimed at deepening the relationship between family businesses and local development, contributing to filling a gap in knowledge that has only recently been highlighted. Multiple Corrispondence Analysis is the statistical method used for the synthesis of questionnaires for the study of relationships that characterize family businesses present on the territory considered. From the analysis emerge all the characteristics of the aggregate behaviors that allow to deepen the understanding of the dynamics of the relationship between family businesses and regional development.

This work-in-progress paper presents the early results of a survey aiming to understand the relationship between family firms and regional development in contemporary economic, by examining the negative effects of “family inertia” on the acquisition of dynamic capabilities necessary to enhance competitiveness and establish inter-firm cooperation strategies in family businesses in the context of an industrial district.
