Social Tourism and Healthy Ageing

Recent research in social tourism notes possible links between tourism participation and improvements in health. However, there is a lack of quantitative evidence concerning the potential links between tourism participation and self-reported health amongst older people. An ageing society requires measures to promote independent living and enhance older people's quality of life. Taking as its core the attitude toward the advertisement, this study attempts to determine the mechanisms through which advertising influences consumers' attitudes and buying behaviour. These mechanisms are analysed in terms of involvement with the message and with the execution of the ad, and in terms of the strength of the arguments used in the ad. The study finds that the involvement with the message and with the execution of the ad, determinates the antecedents and consequences of the ad.
