Global fits in the coloured scalar model
Abstract In this work we study the phenomenological constraints on the parameter space of scalars carrying colour quantum numbers. In particular we constrain the Manohar-Wise model based on the addition of a SU(2) doublet and SU(3) octet to the minimal Higgs model. The fits are performed using the open-source package HEPfit . We include both theoretical constraints, such as unitarity and perturbativity, and experimental constraints, like the ones coming from flavour and electroweak observables. For the first time we combine all these results and we are able to constrain the parameters of the potential, the Yukawa couplings and the masses of the scalars.
Effective interactions in Ricci-Based Gravity below the non-metricity scale
We show how minimally-coupled matter fields of arbitrary spin, when coupled to Ricci-Based Gravity theories, develop non-trivial effective interactions that can be treated perturbatively only below a characteristic high-energy scale $\Lambda_Q$. Our results generalize to arbitrary matter fields those recently obtained for spin 1/2 fields in \cite{Latorre:2017uve}. We then use this interactions to set bounds on the high-energy scale $\Lambda_Q$ that controls departures of Ricci-Based Gravity theories from General Relativity. Particularly, for Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld gravity we obtain the strong bound $ |\kappa|<3.5 \times 10^{-14} \text{ m}^5 \text{kg}^{-1}\text{s}^{-2} $.

Running of featureful primordial power spectra
Current measurements of the temperature and polarization anisotropy power spectra of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) seem to indicate that the naive expectation for the slow-roll hierarchy within the most simple inflationary paradigm may not be respected in nature. We show that a primordial power spectra with localized features could in principle give rise to the observed slow-roll anarchy when fitted to a featureless power spectrum. Future CMB missions have the key to disentangle among the two possible paradigms and firmly establish the slow-roll mechanism as the responsible one for the inflationary period in the early universe. From a model comparison perspective, and assuming that …
LHC bounds on colored scalars
We analyze the constraints on coloured scalar bosons imposed by the current LHC data at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV. Specifically, we consider an additional electroweak doublet of colour-octet scalars, satisfying the principle of Minimal Flavour Violation in order to fulfill the stringent experimental limits on flavour-changing neutral currents. We demonstrate that coloured scalars with masses below 800 GeV are already excluded, provided they are not fermiophobic.
