Over recent years, an increasing body of research in social and cultural studies has investigated the contemporary processes of social change from the point of view of affective capitalism. In this article, we take under scrutiny one of its technologies, namely, empowerment, by which we mean a state characterised by feelings of strength, ability and power that enable agency. Abstract In contemporary working life, art-based initiatives are increasingly used in organizational training and development. For artists, this has created new employment opportunities as creative entrepreneurs who provide specialist services for workplaces. This article investigates exchanges between the presenter and another participant within PowerPoint presentations in workplace meetings. Using ethnomethodological conversation analysis as a method, it examines 1) how participants orient to each other's expertise, 2) what is accomplished through the exchange and 3) how the PowerPoint slide is interwoven with the process. The results show how the exchanges establish the presentation as information delivery in which the complexity of professional knowledge is displayed and negotiated. The present article examines collaborative writing in organizational consulting and training, where writing takes place as part of a group discussion assignment and is carried out by using digital writing technologies. The data come from a videotaped performance of a professional theater, portraying a story about a workplace organization going through a personnel training program. This article examines the way in which interaction is commodified on websites advertising professional training. It demonstrates how interaction is conceptualized in the training course advertisements and constructed as a sellable entity that will profit the potential client organization. The results show that the course advertisements associate interaction with the challenges caused by the multitude of perspectives and behavioral patterns present in any organization.
