Lo strappo al mos maiorum

Following Doxiadis in his idea of mos maiorum linking eye and hand the essay deals with citizens' action in remembering. This is the opposite of Villa Adriana's paradigm. The focus is in the opposition between the ecleticism of Villa Adrina and th eregularuty of Ippodamus grid.

The essay is a development of Pier Federico Caliari's study for the Piazza d'Oro in Villa Adrina at Tivoli published in the magazine Ananke 84. Its subtitle is indeed Studio dal testo di Ananke 84. Some of Caliari's HYpothesis about the axial development of some parts of Villa Adriana are put in relation with geometrical tracement tools on one side and art of memory on the other side.
