Review of the genus Prolactistes (Heteroptera: Cydnidae), with two new combinations, first Indonesian records and a key to species of the genus

Two species of the genus ParaethusJ. A. Lis, 1994 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Cydnidae: Cydninae: Geotomini) are transferred to ProlactistesJ. A. Lis, 2001, resulting in the following new combinations: Prolactistes jani(J. A. Lis, 1995), comb. nov., and Prolactistes lisi(Magnien, 2014), comb. nov. Diagnostic characters for Prolactistes, and a key for its three species are provided. The present note also reports the first Indonesian record for Prolactistes australisJ. A. Lis, 2001 (Ambon Island, Timor) and P. lisi(Ambon Island), both known previously only from Australia.

The King’s Lace Bug Recaredus rex Distant, 1909 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Tingidae): Systematic Position, First Palaearctic and Afrotropical Records, and Ecological Niche Modelling

The systematic position and actual distribution of Recaredus rex, for a long time one of the most enigmatic lace bug genus and species, is very obscure because only the type specimen and three other individuals from India are known to date. In the present paper, we report the first records of R. rex from the Palaearctic region (Iran) and tropical Africa (Ghana). Based on the occurrence localities and climatic variables, we predict potentially useful ecological niches for this species using Maxent software. The areas with the best environmental conditions for R. rex indicated in our studies suggest its possible Palaeotropical distribution. Moreover, we regard these results as a good starting…

Gatunki pluskwiaków różnoskrzydłych (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) z terenu Polski wykorzystywane w badaniach molekularnych – przegląd / Species of Heteroptera from the territory of Poland used in molecular studies – a review

Approximately 740 species of Heteroptera have been hitherto recorded in Poland, including 705 species of the so called “terrestrial true bugs”. Data on their distribution in our country come mainly from the faunistic and ecological research. However, Heteroptera species faunistic lists often omit locations of specimens used in various kind of molecular studies due to several reasons: (1) such data are not always included in the source paper, (2) the location is given in the description of the nucleotide sequence of the specimen only in the GenBank, (3) the differences between typical faunistic and molecular studies result in inadvertent omission of the latter. The paper presents…

Ocena możliwości potencjalnej ekspansji prześwietlika dębowego Corythucha arcuata (Say, 1832), inwazyjnego gatunku z rodziny Tingidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera), na tereny Polski / Evaluation of the possibilities of potential expansion of the oak lace bug Corythucha arcuata (Say, 1832), an invasive species of Tingidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera), into the territory of Poland

Corythucha arcuata, the North American oak lace bug feeding on leaves of “white oaks” in its native range, was discovered in Europe in 2000 (in northern Italy). Since that time it has spread rapidly in several European countries where its population outbreaks have been observed. However, the species was not reported from Poland, so far. In this study the potential geographic distribution of Corythucha arcuata was modelled using maximum entropy (Max-Ent) in order to predict the regions of Poland where it would have found the best environmental conditions for its further spread. The results showed that the highest habitat suitability areas were located in the central-eastern parts…

Language shifts in the language biographies of immigrants from Upper Silesia residing in Germany

Abstract The main objective of the article is to illustrate how language ideologies and language management at the macro-level (state language policy), micro-level (in families) and meso-level (local communities) influence language change and the conceptualization of multilingualism of immigrants from Upper Silesia residing in Germany. Language biographies of persons from Silesia demonstrate the significant influence of historical and political events on sociolinguistic processes. Original fragments of biographical interviews of the people surveyed constitute an integral part of the text.

Pierwsze stwierdzenie długoskrzydłego okazu Prostemma aeneicolle Stein, 1857 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Nabidae) na Dolnym Śląsku

[The first discovery of the long-winged Prostemma aeneicolle Stein, 1857 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Nabidae) specimen in Lower Silesia]. Prostemma aeneicolle occurs most often as a short-winged specimen, and long-winged individuals are infre-quent. Such a specimen was found for the second time in Poland and for the first time in Lower Silesia. The first occurrence of this species in Opole was also reported.

Czy Nysius huttoni (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Lygaeidae), gatunek obcy dla Europy, może mieć w Polsce sprzyjające warunki do bytowania?

Nysius huttoni, the species endemic to New Zealand, is regarded as a pest which feeding can seriously reduce crop establishment in forage brassicas. It was discovered for the first time in Europe in 2002 (the Netherlands) and has spread in several European countries (Belgium, France, United Kingdom, Germany). Although detailed data on the natural spread of N. huttoni is lacking, it can theoretically be transported over long distances with infested plants, and is often found on apple and kiwi fruit packages exported from New Zealand. The species was hitherto not reported from Poland, therefore its potential geographic distribution was modelled using maximum entropy (Max-Ent) in order to pred…
