International audience; La région des Marais de Saint-Gond (Marne) comporte un très grand nombre de sites néolithiques. Elle est surtout connue pour ses nombreuses sépultures collectives en hypogées et en allées couvertes. Des ateliers de taille et des habitats y ont également été détectés. Tous ces sites ont fourni des quantités de silex taillés. L’origine de ces silex et le contexte géologique de la région n’avaient pas encore fait l’objet d’une étude détaillée. Depuis 2012 les prospections ont permis de localiser 17 minières et plusieurs dizaines d’affleurements de bancs de silex. In the southern and eastern area of the Côte d’Île-de-France, north of the marshes of Saint-Gond (Marne, France), research incorporating a great deal of unpublished documentation, and the results of pedestrian and aerial surveys, has highlighted five flint mines. For various reasons, the many indications of mining activity in this region have never been considered sufficient to consider it a mining area, however, the combination of a series of objective observations suggests the existence of five flint mines.In several sites, flint mining was conducted from shafts several metres deep, sometimes connected by galleries. The region of Morvan, in particular the granitic massif, forms a very large geographic area of which the prehistoric remains largely unknown. The situation regarding the zone lying between Morvan massif and the adjacent Serein, Arroux, A leine and Yonne valleys is very different. The lithic industry of several sites in Upper Morvan has demonstrated a first inhabitation during the Mesolithic and several hill sites occupied from the Middle Neolithic and during the Final Neolithic, including a probable enclosure on Mont Beuvray. International audience; The Uppermost Middle Pleistocene site of Romain-la-Roche (Doubs, France) : synthesis of biostratigraphic and palaeoecological conclusions.- The site of Romain-la-Roche is a karstic swallowhole which acted as a natural trap where fall numerous large mammals, and where diverse small vertebrates were transported as preys of birds. The site was excavated between 1980 and 1991 by Patrick Paupe and his team. It yielded 52 species of mammals (more than 10 000 identifiable remains), more than 13 of species of birds, two of reptiles, one of amphibian, two of fishes and undetermined gastropods. Raw material provenance of silicite artefacts: Korobchyne-Kurhan, Central Ukraine

Korobchyne-kurhan stone age site in the Velyka Vys River basin, in Central Ukraine is investigated for raw material and contacts. The surrounding geography and the site are presented. The extensive search of outcrops around the monument resulted in nearer outcrops than was previously expected. Scientific investigations on 15 artefacts from Korobchyne-kurhan using non-destructive microfacies analysis allows us to have a first insight in the raw materials used by the prehistoric people and to give a detailed description from the encountered silicite varieties. International audience; Beginning in the Early Neolithic Period (or LBK) and increasingly in the Middle and Later Neolithic periods (a transition spanning about 5,000-2,300 B.C.) in Europe, considerable energy was invested in quarrying and miningchert and flint for tool production. Acquisition of stone combined local sources with regional transport. Chipped stone was used in everyday activities and for objects that likely played a special role in exchange networks. Linkages between quarries and surrounding landscapes thus can shed light on patterns of travel, work, and trade at local and regional scales. A georeferenced database of the main flint-bearing formations of Southern France is currently being finalised. It offers a toolto all prehistorians that is essential for the development of studies regarding raw material circulation and selection criteria.
