At the beginning of the 21st century, a new element was added to the traditional set constituting the identity of Polish society, namely annual commemorative awards granted by way of resolutions by the Sejm and the Senate of the Republic of Poland. In the years 2001-2021, the Sejm ofthe Republic of Poland passed resolutions announcing sixty-three persons or groups, ten events and six ideas patrons of individual years. There are nearly half as many patrons announced by the Senate of the Republic ofPoland, which is mainly due to the five-year interval that passed from the adoption of the first such resolution by the Sejm and the first relevant act by the Senate. In recent years, however, the Senate has not been inferior to the Sejm in the number of persons, events, ideas and even cities honored in this way. And so, in the years 2006-2022 senators distinguished twenty-five persons or groups, six events, sixteen ideas and one city. It included - as a matter of course - the resolutions of the Sejm and the Senate of the Republic of Poland announcing, respectively, 2019 and 2021 the years of the Silesian Uprisings. The above examples show that remembering and commemorating the armed uprisings ofthe Polish population of Upper Silesia in the years 1919-1920-1921 takes place on many levels, and Polish parliamentarians have also contributed to this process in recent years.
