Algunos pasajes de Sófocles ponen de manifiesto una concepción cósmica del tiempo, similar a la encontrada en Heráclito, según la cual el mundo está en armonía mediante la sucesión constante de contrarios en continua transformación. Esta idea del cambio temporal, con paralelos también épicos y líricos, aparece reformulada en sus tragedias, fuertemente vinculada con el conocimiento y la fortuna trágica que experimentan los héroes sofocleos al final del drama. Some passages of Sophocles reveal a conception of the cosmic time, similar to that found in Heraclitus, because of that the world is in a balanced harmony by a continuous succession of contraries that change all time. This time, in his tragedies, is strongly linked with the knowledge and the tragic luck that the sophoclean heroes undergo at the end of the tragedy.
